One of the best family lawyers in Brisbane City. I highly recommend

I had a very difficult divorce which had dragged on over a few years of private and court negotiations. I finally engaged Journey Family Lawyers and Lyn Galvin, to my utter relief found someone who thought outside the box, who was fair and just, who didn't let me down and who also had a soul. This firm made all the difference to my life and I am still grateful to Lyn for her kindness, understanding and tenacity when required. A family company as well which I like!  I Could not recommend them more!

In common with many other people, I have recently begun the dreaded trek into 'Divorceland'.  Also in common with many others, the idea didn't simply spring into my mind one afternoon while watching the footie on TV.  The problems had been developing over a period of many years and the relationship continued to deteriorate as a result.  Knowing nothing about Family Law, I did some research online about the various firms specialising in this branch of the law and sought advice from friends.  I looked at the website and the Google reviews for Journey Family Lawyers based in the CBD.  In particular, I noted the articulate review provided by a person submitted some four months ago in which he described his unsatisfactory experiences with that firm.  I'd invite persons to read that reviewer's comments below.  I know nothing of the circumstances of the matter to which he refers and accordingly, am unable to comment on those matters.  What I will say, however, is that I know from harsh experience that there are always, always, at least two sides to every story.  Sometimes, more sides than a Rubic's Cube.  That truism is applicable here.  To cut a long story a bit shorter, I went ahead and made an appointment to meet with a solicitor, Regina Chapple from Journey Family Lawyers. The person arranging the administration and appointments, Rebecca Sharpe, was an absolute delight to deal with.  Supportive, capable and empathetic.  I've now had several conferences with Regina Chapple.  She is never in a hurry to wind things up and get me out the door.  She listens very carefully to my views, opinions and suggestions with far more empathy than I ever received from my now-separated wife.  Having both the strong legal experience in this field coupled with an inherent empathetic personality, Regina has helped me through a very dark period of my life.  I very strongly recommend Journey Family Lawyers and wish I had engaged  them years ago. If I could allocate a six-star rating, I would.

Do your own research, but personally I found the fees to be exhortbitant, and the representation to be incompetent. In the end, I had to use a different firm as I believed their approach to charging to be ruthless and in some cases outright exploitative. In my situation, they demanded all their exhorbitant fees up front, to the point where I had to sell assets urgently at less than market value, to fund a worst-case estimate for a court appearance... an appearance that I believed they performed poorly at, and in the end were only there a fraction of the time they estimated - causing my loss on asset sale to be unnecessary. I found their approach to family law to lack care, empathy or deal with any of the "human" aspects for me as their client - I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth, like it was just all about the money.  At the end, they refused to hand over my file until I paid fees I disagreed with. I felt powerless, exploited, bullied, and like I had no bargaining power as a client. And when I paid, they just gave me a stack of paper tied up with string... a printed bundle, not in any organised structure or order, just an unmanageable mess, and they refused to give electronic copies. A mobile phone entrusted to them as evidence was "lost" - they denying they had received it.  As soon as I complained to staff about their poor service, and they pulled the uppity card and claimed I was disrespectful and rude.  In all, this is a firm that markets themselves one way, but I found them to treat me opposite and without compassion and ruthlessly.  *buyer beware*
