The Imperial in South Yarra is a Chapel St icon renowned for its rich history and its premium bar offer.

Story

The Imperial was built in the late 19th century in South Yarra on one of Melbourne's most iconic streets, Chapel St. The Imperial has recently undergone a massive transformation and the decor is now in keeping with our reputation for first-class service and cuisine, our extensive cocktail list and a guaranteed great night out for all.

Our selection of classic or contemporary cocktails is the perfect way to kick start your evening! We also have on offer a wide range of local and imported beers, both on tap and bottled, as well as an extensive range of Australian and New Zealand wines.

Wow. Surprisingly good. Came here on a Thursday night for pre movie dinner as it’s close to Village Jam Factory. Thursday is steak night here for $25 which is what I ordered and was very decent; everything was put together really well from the dressing on the salad, to the crunchy but soft chips and the steak was well seasoned, cooked to medium well to my liking and good atmosphere. Also came out quicker than what I imagined, around 15 mins wait time. The happy hour is worth taking advantage of with $5 pots of Stone & Wood Pale Ale.
Nice venue in south Yarra. Big bar with live music on a Saturday night. We were there for my mates 21st in the room out the back. Very spacious witb 3 course dinner, excellent food portions and drink service. We had a great time, but the bar wasn’t very packed when we left outside.Food: 5/5

Nice atmosphere, poor service for a basic weekday lunch menu. Meals came out at different times, 2 of us had finished by the time the last meal came out same meal as the others. People need to stop serving the ends of a tomato in any meal……Food: 1/5
Perfect for Office Party The food was good! Perfect portion, adequately price and tasted good! The Staff are amazing. The fire added to the atmosphere. Pretty decent mellow tunes. Being a wet and windy night the vibe was like the City morgue. Don't know how they can make it more lively but good spot for location and Summer. Food $25 Steak Night. Chef should get a pay rise for pulling it off. Chips good. Salad mega on the skimping side. Would drop in for a Happy Hour drink just because of the Staff.
Visited this pub for happy hour and thoroughly enjoyed the cheap drinks. The pub quiz was a blast, adding to the fun atmosphere of the evening. However, the food left much to be desired. It was heavy and unhealthy, lacking freshness. The cheese board was disappointing, with processed meats and limited cheese options. Additionally, I wasn't a fan of being asked for Google reviews during the quiz as it can skew the reliability of ratings. Overall, it's a good pub for drinks and entertainment, but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner alone due to the food quality. Nonetheless, we had a fun time and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Delicious bar food to compliment the refreshing cocktails! Favourites would have to be their fries and sweet potato wedges. Beef sliders were so juicy, the buns were warm and fluffy and the creamy sauce was so yummy. All the cocktails were not bad, but it’s better if you get in during happy hour. Love all the martinis, the cocktails I found a bit too sweet. Good value for drinks, but wait times for the cocktails was unusual as the food came out much faster than the drinks, whilst the drinks came out separately after 15-30 minutes. Other than that, staff are quite attentive. Food: 3.5/5 Value: 4.25/5 Ambience: 3/5 Service: 3/5
I’ve been there for lunch. I’ve ordered beer and Caesar Salad. The beer tap was well maintained and the service is good. The food was served quickly and well cooked. But the cabbage in the Salad is not washed properly and my tooth hit small stone twice during the entire meal.Food: 2/5
Had a great time at the imperial south Yarra last night with friends. Great atmosphere and vibe, food and drinks come quickly ordering via the QR Code, and presentation was nice. Will definitely be coming back!Food: 5/5
