Story

The bistro at the Hotel Allen has a reputation that only years of providing great value, high quality food and service can give. The hotel is based around a central courtyard, and so offers the choice of indoor or outdoor dining, and is open 7 days for breakfast (7am-10am), lunch (12pm-2pm) and dinner (6pm-9pm). The great feature of the Hotel Allen’s bistro is choice - there is an a la carte menu with daily specials for you to choose from.

The bar is the home base for a number of sports teams who enjoy the many beers on tap, the big screens for all the sports action and the regular live entertainment. There is a full TAB facility as well as Keno. WE have a BRAND NEW, modern gaming room offering 40 of the latest, exciting poker machines and the hotel also offers basic to modern accommodation settings.

Regularly stay here but not anymore. Lady at reception recognised me as a regular but asked for 100 dollar deposit. I said that this is new and I wasn't happy about it. She said that the new management are insisting on it. I was complaining to one of my colleagues and he told me he doesn't stay there anymore because it took over a week for the money to go back into his account. I know there are bad people out there but I am not and I don't like dealing with people who don't trust me. Also management should give staff enough authority to waive deposit.

The Hotel Allen 'Range Topping Parmie' and 'Prawn & Chorizo Creamy Risotto' were both yummy...well done HA Chef. Staff were friendly & efficient, and the food arrived hot & promptly. A lovely lunch experience in the AC with the option of al fresco dining.

On our travels from bbn to cns my daughter and I were very tired from driving and needed a cheap but reasonable place to stay the night. We checked in at Hotel Allen and I have to say, I was surprised at how lovely all the staff were because I judged a book by its cover and thought it would be a bit rough around the edges. The young staff who looked after us were all really nice, good natured, mature, responsible young adults who all went over and above in ensuring we were looked after. Well done Hotel Allen. The only problem - I emailed the manager about a month ago to appraise their staff very highly. After taking the time to do that, there was zero acknowledgment.

The pub itself is a shell of its glory days and is in need of an overhaul but the staff ate friendly and welcoming and the meals are reasonably priced. The jag the joker promo on Friday nights draws a relaxed social group of regulars who welcome new coners and makes for a pleasent and fun evening.
