Story

Hot Waves is a licensed cafe and gallery and only a one minute walk from internationally renowned Hot Water Beach. Located in Hot Water Beach village, Hot Waves Cafe offfers generous off-road parking with the Cafe set in one acre of NZ native gardens, attracting prolific native birdlife. Built in earth, brick and timber, the cafe has two dining areas leading out to outdoor eating areas nestled in the native garden. Hot Waves serves delicious homemade food, vegetarian options and Allpress Espresso coffee.

I had the potebello mushrooms and a latte. Both ere delicious. I just love the setting of this place. A beautiful seating area among the bush and birds. The cafe is full of wonderful art. Perfect for a meander while you wait.

Excellent Kiwi cafe. Cabinet food and a la carte, good coffee in lovely setting. Friendly service, nice ambience. Recommended.

Over an hour waiting for lunch... Sure, it was a bit busy but it was ridiculous. Tables all around were in the same situation, and other reviews seem to indicate similar experiences. The food was good (although pouring balsamic vinegar all over the bottom of the burger made it sticky and soggy to hold - maybe don't do that), and the outdoor setting is beautiful. The kids enjoyed the play area too, but it wasn't enough to hold them for the extremely long wait, so they were fussing and whinging by the time our food arrived. We were disappointed the staff gave no indication of a lengthy wait when we ordered, nor were we provided any updates along the way. I actually had to go to the counter to ask, where I found people from neighboring tables doing the same thing. Food: B- Setting: A+ Service: F

What a beauitful yummy cafe! Lovely outside area to sit with a little playground for the kids to play, which is in a nice private corner away from the other tables. If it's a bit cold outside, there was loads of room inside with a lovely lounge seating area with board games and beautiful art work to look at :) The food was so very yummy! We have a wonderful breakfast and can't wait to go back again for lunch one day!
