I do not often tip in NZ, it's not the normal thing here, but I had a lovely meal with great warm attentive service that I was not expecting. Well done Salt... you're a lovely dining experience. Totally recommended.

Soft shell crab was a good feed. Tasty and generous. Oysters were ok, they needed to do a better job of cleaning the shells before serving as it's a bit off putting seeing other critters on the plate. In Salt's defense they have us more after fixing up and didn't charge. Thanks Salt crew

Very nice, for a small town restaurant it would stand up against its big brothers in the cities very well. Good tasty food well prepared and very pleasant staff. Beautiful setting on a summers evening.

This was highly disappointing visit. Salt looks the business and I couldn't fault the service...our two servers were friendly and the food came out in good time. However two out of our three meals were missing elements...no strawberries with the duck dish which they didn't tell us about but they knew were not available and then no prawns with the fish of the day dish. Whilst they knocked $3 off the bill for these two elements it was just a disappointing experience for what I would call a high end (certainly in terms of price) restaurant. We have previously eaten across the road at Squids and found this to be much better in terms of value and overall experience.

Terrible service. Chose it as it was the only place open to eat lunch after 14:30. Waitress forgot to place our mains order with the kitchen. Strange as we put our full order in at once and we got our starters but had to ask for mains after nearly half an hour after starters. There were only 4 covers besides ourselves in the restaurant! We, three guests, had ordered 2 starters, 3 drinks and 2 main courses. Staff gave us our 2 starters and drinks for free as an apology. Food portions were small for the price and the staff weren't particularly friendly. Overall a bad experience 😴😴😴😴😴
