Story

Hochi Mama was the god mother of all aspiring street artists and rappers in the early 90's.

An immigrant in the big city, she hosted underground art shows along with rap battles for the rejects; a place where you could just be at home, but with family. The whole crew was always welcome, the more the merrier, and she was well renown for creating innovative dishes using the original famous dishes from her home country, and plenty of booze, in her spacious and homey warehouse.

The r&b and hip hop beats are always pumping, the playful cocktails flowing; it’s always a fun time at Hochi Mama’s.

Sit back and chill. From bar nibbles to Vietnamese- inspired cocktails, South- East Asian feasts to cold beers with mates, you're always welcome at Hochi Mama's.

I popped into Hochi Mama on my last trip to Melbourne after an extended shopping trip as our day slipped into evening. The restaurant was buzzing, and we found ourselves seated at the bar. The vibrant atmosphere, fueled by lively music, suited the youthful vibe perfectly.nnThe food arrived quickly, with portions that were surprisingly generous and packed with bold flavors, beautifully presented. A bridal shower in the corner seemed right at home in this lively setting.nnI tried the pork knuckle, impressively large though it may have since been removed from the menu, which I couldn't finish—a rare occurrence for me! The bar was a focal point, surrounded by happy diners and plenty of empty plates.nnThere's some talk about smaller portions lately, but from what I experienced, Hochi Mama still serves up a satisfying meal with flair!
Nice Asian fusion restaurant.nnI liked:n+good foodn+some nice vegetarian optionsn+big portionsn+cool interiornnI disliked:n-very loud due to bad acoustics. I could barely hear the waiters.n-our main waitress seemed annoyed. Not sure why, we were friendly. Nothing she did in particular, just body language and face gestures.
The restaurant had a good vibe with a cool bar front and centre. The music was loud and the restaurant was quite dark but the food was pretty good. We had the feed me menu and were able to try a large portion of the menu. The cocktails were also very fun and tasted good. Recommend dishes that have raw fish.
Had a great experience at Hochi Mama and will certainly be going back. Great food with a ton of exotic flavours and each dish was plated beautifully. Brilliant atmosphere. I couldn't fault the service by the staff who served the meals in ample succession with the name of each dish being mentioned on delivery. They were very attentive to whether we wanted anything else to drink as well as keeping our water glasses full. Suitable background music was playing. Would certainly recommend this place!
Following high reviews and late business hours then we came from Epping downtown, service is great and warm, caring us if right to eat. Chicken bau is not affordable to miss, satay chicken is delicious though not looking fine, stir noodles are average. Overall ambience is good.
