This was not the experience we have come to expect as a Hilton Honors member.nWhen we arrived, the staff were attentive, and we were shown to our lake wakatipu room that we had reserved for the view. Our room was recessed back and we had a miniature deck with a view of the roof drain from the adjacent room. It was extremely disappointing, and after experiencing problems with the air conditioning in the room we inquired about moving. We were told there was no availability. On further conversation with the representative a room became available on the first floor which has high shrubs in front of it that partially obscure the lake view so we turned it down. We discovered the next day that the room was actually on the second floor with a larger deck and a great view of the lake so again disappointment with the communication. I would think the hotel would go the distance and show the guest the suggested room to see if that worked, but that did not happen.nnThe breakfast that is served is superb and the wait staff are very attentive and friendly ..nnI would agree with other reviewers that the lighting in the bathrooms of the rooms are very dim. We had to request service to the room both days and we found out that was minimal service with no replenishment of shower liquids and having to ask for fresh towels and coffee and water.nnBeds are comfortable enough but the thermostats appear to be preset in the room. We had an employee come in and check them, but we were cold the majority of the time and unable to adjust the temperature.nnThe ladies steam shower was down for maintenance, the hot tub was dirty and the sauna was stuck at 82c. Otherwise pool and spa area was tidy.nnThe water taxi service into town runs at $14 per person one way. Operators are not employees of the hotel and have very little ownership or training in the tourist industry. Catching rideshare, or other transportation into town is not particularly practical, especially with the extensive traffic, congestion, and backups.nnCommunication does appear to be an issue with hotel, employees and there is a certain ambivalence with a lot of the staff . Our flight was canceled with the Air New Zealand ground stop of a 320s. I called down to the front desk to request an extended stay the night before and was told the hotel had high occupancy and nothing was available. Maybe I should try again in the morning. After checking online with several different sources, including the Hotels website There were rooms available, but nothing was offered. I spent almost 7 hours trying to talk with Airlines and Hotels so I would have arrangements for the next morning . We flagged down an employee outside our room and discussed the situation but there wasn’t any feedback until the time we went to check out next morning when the front desk asked if we wanted an extended stay. It was all a little bit sad and disappointing. What made it more difficult was the number of attempts to dial an outside phone line from the room. five different attempts to do so before the operator picked up and offered to connect me to my airline - rather strange. You can’t dial direct and you end up having to provide a phone number to an operator to connect you. I felt like I had been transported back in time.nnBottom line there is no compelling reason for us to return to this hotel. it simply did not meet the Hilton standard and in Queenstown There are far too many other great choices.
Located on the serene shores of Lake Wakatipu, the Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa’s Lakeside Suite offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and luxurious comfort. The moment you step inside, the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows reveal breathtaking views of the tranquil lake and surrounding mountains—whether at sunrise or sunset, the scenery is simply mesmerizing.nnThe suite is spacious and elegantly designed with warm wooden tones and soft lighting, creating a cozy, villa-like atmosphere. The plush sofa and in-room fireplace make it an inviting retreat after a day of exploring Queenstown. The bed is exceptionally comfortable with excellent support, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.nnThe bathroom is equally impressive, featuring a large bathtub that faces the lake—perfect for soaking while admiring the view. The soundproofing is outstanding, offering complete peace and quiet despite the hotel’s large scale.nnWhat truly sets the Hilton apart, however, is its attentive and genuinely friendly staff. From check-in to check-out, every interaction feels warm and personal. The team assists with luggage, arranges the convenient water taxi to the town center, and provides thoughtful local recommendations—all with sincere hospitality that leaves a lasting impression.nnOverall, the Lakeside Suite at Hilton Queenstown is more than just a place to stay—it’s a peaceful sanctuary where you can truly unwind. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or on a solo retreat, it’s the ideal spot to experience serenity, comfort, and the soul of Queenstown’s natural charm.
We stayed for five days and absolutely loved it. The rooms were fantastic with a stunning view, and the lakefront location was perfect for all our activities. The breakfast buffet was also excellent. The only downside was the valet service, which was quite slow and consistently took a while for the car to arrive.
I had an exceptional stay at the Hilton Queenstown! From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and truly went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, with stunning views that made waking up each morning a treat. Tusar was an excellent host. He helped us with many things.nnThe lakeside location is absolutely unbeatable—peaceful, picturesque, and just a short water taxi ride to the town centre. The breakfast spread was fantastic with plenty of fresh options, and the on-site restaurants offered delicious meals with great service.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful property for our honeymoon.nWe booked ourselves in for the location and brand name but were surprised at the way the staff went out of their way to make our stay impeccable.nTusar was an absolute angel and made us feel special, comfortable and happy.nWish we didn’t have to leave…we will be back soon!
