We were really satisfied with the service at Gochi. The staff were accommodating and the food was yummy. We got the salmon aburi which I highly recommend! we also ordered the Bento which had karrage chicken, salmon, sushi and salad. The chicken and salmon were the highlight. Chicken was crunchy and not dry. The salmon in the bento was small but the sauce and texture was lovely. Bit pricey for what you get in terms of portion but to be expected at Crown. Recommend!
Maybe I was lucky to go there on a good day. The lobster rolls and Katsu curry were fresh and delicious. The server was thoughtful and looked after me. Great ambience. Takeaway and nice seating area.Food: 5/5
I have had several ramen at Gochi on a weekend: 1 Black truffle soy tonkotsu $23 2 Signature kakuni $21 3 Karaage $19.5 The review will discuss them in turn, followed by some general comments. 1. This was nice overall, except the small portion of ‘truffle’ added on did not have much of an effect on the ramen. This ramen tasted very similar to the signature kakuni, albeit being 10% more expensive. The feedback below for the signature kakuni also apply here. 2. A nice classic, very tender chashu slices with soft noodles. Portion wasn’t too bad and it was enough to fill. Overall would recommend. 3. The karaage was made very well. It was placed in the soup but since that allowed it to soak in the flavour from the soup, I believe it added an additional layer of flavour to the karaage which I quite liked. If you prefer karaage to be crunchy, you may have to try request it to be served separately. The karaage is also freshly fried, and hot to the tongue. Would also recommend this ramen. General comment about the noodles: Gochi does softer ramen noodles than most ramen places in the city, and this should be kept in mind before visiting. If you are a fan of harder noodles, this may not be for you. I am quite flexible so I would still recommend you try this place for yourself. Surcharges: there is now a 10% surcharge on Sunday and a 15% surcharge on public holidays. This appears to be a new rule introduced recently. Menu items: I have visited Gochi in the past and it seems like sometime this year, they had removed all the Donburi rice bowls from the menu, and increased the price particularly for the signature bento box to $26. While the bento was quite good back then, particularly in conjunction with the Sunday and public holiday surcharges, the price rise looks to be a little high. I believe other menu items had also undergo increases but only $1-2 in the year, whereas I believe the bento increased by $3-4. Please keep note of this if you haven’t visited in a while - page 1 of the menu is below. Overall a pleasant visit, and a place I would recommend trying after considering my notes above.
The sashimi is really very dissaponting. The piecse is so thinly slice that i feel a bit rip off. Compare to what i can buy from other outlet each pics is much thicker n bigger. Gochi sashimi is the thiness n smaller per piece i ever see. Best is compare before one order.
I got the spicy pork donburi and it wasn’t really good. It’s just spicy without much flavour. The pork was pretty tough as well. The chicken was really bland too. Not really something I’d come and try again. But the food was quick.Food: 1/5
Not sure why the bad reviews but we’ve been here twice already. The service was excellent from the girl who greeted you at the door to all the waitstaff who delivered the dishes. The staff was so helpful and attentive, even though the restaurant was super busy on a Saturday night. Highly recommend salmon poke bowl, lobster sushi rolls and soft shell crabs roll. Will totally come back again.
Came across this lovely Japanese eatery at Crown Casino. Friendly welcome on arrival, was seated quickly. Waitress gave us some time to look at menu, then offered to take order or use QR booking option, she was so warm and chatty, took our order and also suggested a starter/entree as well. Drinks came out quickly, followed by entree which looked so beautifulon the plate, blown away by the taste and texture of the dish, was delicate, yet packed flavour, outstanding recommendation. Mains served shortly after that, the Bento box and Ramen both looked visually pleasing, large serving sizes for both dishes. Delicious meals, we were very happy with the whole experience.
I should checked the reviews before I went here and that would have saved me from a disappointing meal. I had the ramen here, and no offence to the chef that’s if there was one, and honestly, it just tasted like instant noodle ramen. Actually, that’s a lie, instant noodle ramen would have been better. Definitely not worth it, would not be going back and do not recommend. Food court would be better and cheaper.
So disappointing. For a venue that has a large food Court with plenty of passing trade, I found the sushi somewhat disappointing and the service not much better. The whole Crown complex has a high caliber reputation and yet the Food Court consistently doesn’t reach the benchmark. Staff are ambivalent. Food is ‘ho hum’ and with high turnover it’s fresh but ever so bland. Melbourne is sprinkled with great sushi and I found this place disappointing. I bought the sushi, took it back to my home and just couldn’t eat all of it.The sushi was ‘old’ and really I took two bites and stopped eating it. If I’d eaten it in the food court I would’ve asked for my money back. This is not tolerable, especially considering where they are located. Note: Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Toilets nearby.
I bought some sushi hand rolls and they were expensive and did not taste very good. I ate them because I was starving but I'll never go there again. I suggest everyone avoid this place. It's quite bad.Food: 1/5
