Fu Long Seafood Restaurant

I am from Hong Kong, and I have to say, Fu Long got the A Grade Dim Sum even compare with traditional Hong Kong Restaurants. I was bit touched that I can taste a real Dim Sum even I was miles away from home. It is a no frill place, you got the great food with reasonable price. The service is quick and get to the point. It is always busy, and the waitress may need to rush sometime, but they are patient and always helpful. However, I once saw the next table asked a lots of questions when trying to order the DIM SUM each time, I really don't think they have the luxury to do that. It's what 'real' DIM SUM place support to be, you feel the energy of life. I really enjoyed the visit there.

Yum Cha daily as advertised on their shop front window as well as from Google's mapping system. I would not personally not go to this place unless you are absolutely desperate and if other places are fully booked out. It was a fairly warm day and we had an early session, so we didn't really expect to find that many people to come in; but it eventually happened. At which point, it started to swelter and it was beginning to be unbearable. I mean, the restaurant had many split systems; and none were running at all. A table next to us, a couple of old ladies were complaining as well. The only comfort I had was to switch places with my partner so that I was literally directly to the front door, so that every time it open; a pocket of air and wind would swoop into the restaurant giving a sign of relief for a brief few seconds. What's more, Father's day, today, the 1st of September 2013; just as the above, experienced in such a way that we had no choice but to go. The communication and service is beyond crap. It took 45 minutes to order what we wanted. I wanted 3 servings of their desert dish; Mango Pudding. Now, in every single Yum Cha type restaurants that I have ever been to prior to this; If I order something like this or any thing else; I do not need to wait 45 bloody minutes for a stupid trolley to move from one part of the restaurant to the other end of it just to get a particular dish. Its called customer service for a reason and if you order something; you'd expect that they follow up on it. My patience was boiling hot in the far red zone of being really annoyed after having to speak to 3 people with trolley cars and another who was refilling the tea pots with hot water. Nothing happened for 15 minutes, I had to get up and go to the cashier at the front counter, waiting mind you in line; and when I managed to get to ask the question "can I order something", the idiot woman on the end stated; "are you paying, where is your ticket". Then stated, oh, have you spoken to the other staff.... imbecile.... absolutely pathetic communication. I didn't even get to explain myself properly because this moronic person kept finishing my sentences! I had other people on our table and asked that I sit down and wait a bit longer. I complied and then raised my voice very loudly and swore. At that moment, it was almost the start of the second session for Yum Cha, and the same stupid woman conversed to her other staff in Cantonese which I understood in essence to kick us out quickly. Overall, regardless of whether you go for their lunch or dinner preferred menu setting other than the Yum Cha; it is completely tasteless and plain. Quality standards is non-existent and if you as the consumer prefer to go some where, where the food itself is reasonable; might I suggest something like the Plume in Doncaster, which is not too far from this restaurant as mentioned. It is more expensive granted yes; but the food itself is practically near perfection. I have previously given them a bad rating for the poor décor with the sticky carpet, but I believe some one has taken my review seriously and corrected that measure. In conclusion Fu Long is affordable, their seafood menu is average; their customer service does not exist; their staff needs more training and especially better communication skills and above all else; a damn good set of manners.

Strong flavoured cooking. Good seafood selection with cheap price tag. But not restaurant standard interior or service
