First time here. Busy place. We got in early so managed to get a table. The Spicy Won Ton, Singapore Noodle and Fried rice were good. Not so good; Seafood fried dumplings too blend and Cantonese beef too sweet. Service was excellent. Not the best dumplings place around and not the cheapest but I gave it a 4 stars because of the overall experience. Worth a try.
Can’t count how many times we’ve come back here for their delicious Peking Duck and pork dumplings! S&P calamari and fried rice/noodles dishes are also our go-to. The staff are always so lovely and attentive which is a huge plus you don’t get that often from Chinese restaurants lol
Was a great experience came in just before noon with no booking for a group of 8 staff were able to arrange a table quickly. We were fortunate as the restaurant quickly filled up. Very attentive staff with great attention to detail, offered prawn crackers for the children, made sure cups of tea were always full with the mention of being careful with them being hot. Food came out in a timely manner and was presented well, seasoned to eat may be a tad salty for some many of their dishes if eaten with white rice are perfectly seasoned. Peking Duck and dunplings selections are a must try.
Bloody delicious. I forgot to take these pics when the food arrived as I was starving. The wonton spicy soup was incredible. Packed with so much flavour, not just chilli. Green beans with pork some of the best I've ever had, not greasy like most do. Pan fried pork dumplings solid. Super quick attentive service. Very well priced.Food: 5/5
Lots of vegan options! We got the crispy vegan duck and pancakes as well as other things. Really enjoyed it. Great place
We went to this place for the Peking duck. They serve the duck differently, The whole duck were shaved onto a plate in the kitchen, not infront of customers. The pancakes and salad were served separately like other Peking ducks. The wonton soup, vegetable dumpling, stir fried Long beans and fried rice were equally flavoursome ! We were pleasantly happy with the meal!
Great variety of food that tastes perhaps as good if not better than what we've eaten back in China and Singapore. Excellent friendly warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a great experience all around. No issues with this location.
I attended a birthday dinner on Friday night and the food was picked up from Dumpling King. Unfortunately it was even worse as a takeaway, the sweet and sour chicken was almost entirely batter and the Beijing shredded eggplant was incredibly oily. The chicken in the chicken cashew nut was very poor quality tasting also. Will not be back Original review We went to Dumpling King last night for dinner and were very disappointed. Having visited Box Hill once before and been quite pleasantly surprised I had expected much better then this. We started by ordering a variety of dumplings, prawn, beef and chicken as well as two serves of spring rolls. The prawn dumplings were my choice and when they arrived, luckily I cut into them as they were steaming hot. That’s when I realised they didn’t look like prawn and queried it with staff. I’m not sure how but they had misunderstood our order as pork. As a non pork eater I can’t tell you how much this frustrates me and how regularly it happens that I receive something with pork in it that’s either not in the description or in this case was pure error/misunderstanding. The actual prawn dumplings themselves took an eon to arrive and when they did weren’t much chop. I even found a prawn tail inside. Surprising for a place professing to be the king of dumplings. Main wise we ordered the honey chicken. This we couldn’t actually see on the menu but it duly arrived after it was ordered. I guess it’s a staple of westernised Chinese food. The best dish was definitely the satay chicken albeit the pineapple within definitely tasted canned and the dish itself was quite small relative to the honey chicken. I enjoyed the vegetarian noodles too but overall we weren’t particularly impressed
Been coming here for around 10 years now. The food has always been great and the service very good. The previous manager Yong who passed away R.I.P. and his wife Shelly were fantastic. This has been continued by the current management especially Jin. Staff come and go as you would expect with uni students, but we have always been looked after , brought many friends and family and have enjoyed our food especially the pan fried dumplings and the Mongolian beef...yum..
Stir fried string beans, spicy wontons, and salt & pepper fried tofu were so good, we got seconds. The sweet & sour fish, and smoked duck used to be family favourites. Missed the mark this time round so had to minus a star. The restaurant is no longer in its heyday, but still not a bad option for box hill, especially if you’re after clean place with fast and polite service.
