We ordered the take away cooper's ale battered fish for lunch. We only ordered one serving between 2 of us as we'd had a pretty big breakfast. It was $15 for 2 pieces of fish and chips. The fish was really tasty and well cooked. The serving of chips was really generous and was definitely enough food for us both. Even if I was hungry, I don't think I could've finished one box off by myself. I also got the homemade tartar sauce and that was very tasty. We have a young child, so eating in at places has become less enjoyable lately. We sat under a tree behind the restaurant and had such a lovely afternoon. I would recommend getting there early. We got there at 1130 and ordered lunch around 12. The car park was half empty when we got there, but completely full by the time we left at 130. It was mid week and not school holidays.

Cafe section is great for casual lunches. Simple lunch menu, but can stay quite healthy with grilled fish and Greek salad. Breakfast is a stunner - again simple menu but extremely well done (the restaurant kitchen does the brekkie food for the cafe). Often a crowd, but usually can get a table. Superb location.

Read in a blog that this establishment houses one of the best places for fish and chips this side of SA, but got a little disappointed with the portion. Fish is decent and/or above averagely prepared but price is not reasonable for the size of the meal. Friend who came with me can't do alcohol so the beer battered option was already out, which was a shame because it was the highly recommended menu item. Was served promptly though. Seating has prime view of the beach as well so it's perfect for chilling after a dip.

Been craving epic fish and chips for weeks. Crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish. Crunchy, thick cut chips begging for tomato sauce or vinegar or tartare. It was perfect last time. 50% of the reason we drove 80 minutes to Port Elliot today was because of the Flying Fish Cafe. Was just as good as always. Very, Happy!

We grabbed a seat in the restaurant before looking at the menu. Turned out to be a bad move. We soon learned that the prices here are extortionate. Instead of leaving which is a very awkward move after just grabbing a table for 4, we sucked it up and ordered. There is not much to choose from, and the whole menu looks like a cash grab shakedown. Salad starts at $28, pork belly for $34 and fish and chips $36 for one person serve. Yeah I know. There is also a $96 seafood platter for 2. Had high expectations based on the prices, which was the next bad move since it only lead to disappointment. The food came out within 15 minutes after ordering and all meals arrived together which was good. The fish was OK but mine was cold, and the sweet potato chips were also cold and a bit soggy. The salad that came with the fish and chips was lifeless, and the whole thing just looked mass produced and unloved. Was a $20 meal at best, but they slug $36... give me a break! The pork belly looked dry and not very appealing to me. Dinner for 4 expect to pay around $180. The view was nice overlooking the beach in the AC restaurant on a hot day, but this does not justify the price and for what this place is asking they need to be doing a whole lot better. I have had better food for way less. I won't be back and recommend you avoid this joint if you are looking for good food at a decent price. Someone needs to go full Gordon Ramsay on this place. I would give less stars if I could.
