Best ever asian chilli fried chicken we have ever had. The fried octopus was unbelievably crispy and yummy. The dumplings were juicy, tender and great in taste. We wanted more but we were too full at the end but still wanted more
When the chilli wontons came out I thought they looked average but I was so wrong. They were the best I’ve ever had mixed in with a chilli sesame tahini type sauce. The mapo tofu was top notch. The shao long bao were juicy and pretty good. But again. The chilli wontons. I’m coming back for them
For “dumpling empire” I don’t really rate their dumplings. But those chilli oil wontons with sesame paste are the best. This place is so clean, friendly and the consistency is next to none. I’ve been at least 10 times and it’s always consistently good. They’re fried rice is very nice too. Actually the whole menu is, I just don’t rate the standard dumplings much. Personal preference I’m sure.
Food 3/5, Service 1/5 Food was decent. Except M13 Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce. The Chinese Broccoli was first boiled and then drenched in oyster sauce. It was too salty!! When we asked to change the vegetable, the server/manager said that the saltiness was in the oyster sauce and not in the vegetable? And they only offered to “rinse” the sauce off with hot water resulting in a plate of tasteless vegetables. 10/10 would not recommend.
Lots of hidden awesomeness in their menu from entrees to dessert. I would recommend their Sichuan Spicy Fried chicken entree, Salt & Pepper chicken, Sizzling Cumin Beef, Wonton in chili oil & sesame seed sauce, sweet & sour chicken, pumpkin pancakes dessert
The dumpling selection is not extensive, the ones we ordered were ok, the Chilli wontons were good. Dishes ordered by others looked and smelled better, would be back to try those.
Not the best experience, served burnt dumplings and they said it’s supposed to be cooked that way, then served fried chicken with some fake sweet chilli sauce from Maccas. The ingredients in the sizzling noodle dish isn’t fresh. The best is the garlic rice with bamboo shoots.
We booked a table for 10 and were seated at a long narrow table for dinner. The food was tasty and well prepared, and portions were generous enough. Service was friendly, but not quite good enough as we were served dumplings, then had to ask for utensils, crockery and the accompanying sauces. The order was also short of two dishes we ordered, apparently lost along the way.
Fast service, tasty dumplings. Uniquely there is the ability to have mixed varieties with no extra charge as per the menu. $30 minimum eftpos. Chinese tea is not free unlike most other dumpling restaurants. Small range of bottled drinks available for purchase. Very clean and tidy eating area. Lots of tables available for busy times. I had the steamed pork and vegetarian dumpling combo. They were both nice yet the vegie ones are green and have a strong spice to them. Wheelchair accessible entrance but there is not much extra room withing the seating area.
A really solid Chinese restaurant in the heart of Glen Waverley While the name of the restaurant is Dumpling Empire, CAPITALISED MIND YOU, the dumplings we had were alright not too bad but nothing to rave home about. However, we did enjoy the other menu items especially the mapo tofu. It was bloody delicious Good job
