Very good hotel in centre of town. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the high tea, arranged at short notice as we hadn't booked the normal 24hrs earlier.nGood size rooms as old Post Office renovated to 5 star hotel. High ceilings, very good noise insulation and well designed.nUsual hotel buffet breakfast but very nicely done.nVery nice toiletries supplied in very large bathroom.nNot cheap but easily worth the cost.
Stayed over the new year holiday. Food, A1nService, A1nStaff, couldn't fault them.nRoom was extremely comfortable and well appointed. Close to town and the car park is so handy.nValue for money and we will stay again.nThanks for making our holiday so relaxing and enjoyable.
Cannot fault this hotel. I stayed here with my grandparents over Christmas and we had the best time at this hotel. Superbly clean, excellent service and an amazing restaurant on-site. Highly recommend. Just note, the carparking is not included in the price of your overall stay and they charge $30 per night to store your vehicle.
Very comfortable stay at the Distinction hotel. The rooms were very comfortable. We stayed in the suite, it was very spacious and comfortable. Great location and walking distance to everything. The buffet breakfast was nice , good selection of choices available. The bacon could be a bit crisper though and the sausages were just ok. However bonus points for having hp sauce though Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We would recommend this hotel. Thank you for the lovely stay. Best hotel in Dunedin.
We have stayed at The Distinction a number of times & previously have not been able to fault it. But our last stay was a little bit disappointing. We booked a studio suite as there were no other rooms available. Upon check in we were told our room had been upgraded but it was so close to the elevator that even with all doors in between closed we kept getting woken by the elevator every time it moved. Then we went to get in the elevator to go downstairs for a meal & use our complimentary drinks voucher, but as we entered the lift there was a foul odour of rotten fish which got 10 times worse once we exited the lift on the ground floor, needless to stay we were not able to go anywhere near the restaurant & so went out for a meal. This is the second time our visit has been marred by a strong rotten fish smell which is clearly a sign that the chef does not know how to store / prepare fish properly. Not sure we will be back now which is a shame as it is a lovely hotel apart from the 2 issues we experienced this time around.
