Despite being there during a busy part of the day, the staff were all very helpful, friendly, easygoing and yet still very professional. The service desk was able to manage multiple people at once while remaining composed. It made the process of getting an ID card there quite quick and simple.
I would like to explain my situation and the situation of many people in their daily lives.nnI drove in my country for many years, I brought my licence with me, but now I am an Australian citizen. I knew I had to get my licence in Australia and I paid about $3000 for driving lessons. I have missed 3 tests and not having my licence is restricting me in my daily life.nTo give you an example, I will explain my daily life and my dependence on others to get around. I start my shift at 5am and I have the L which allows me to drive with someone else. My husband, who works a lot, is very tired and needs hours of sleep, accompanies me to work at 5am while I drive. He comes back and I am worried that he will fall asleep while driving. When I finish my shift, I leave at 10:30 and have to walk about a mile and a half to catch a bus. I go to my other job at 12 noon and leave at 8 pm. My husband comes to work and I drive home. My husband is tired of this situation, of not having the freedom even to work, he can't work the way he wants to because I'm there and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be able to move around.nnIn my job there are many people in the same situation as me. They come in at 8am and I find them on the sofa at 5am because their husbands are working in Brisbane at 6am. They come in 2 or 3 hours before their shift because there is no public transport during those hours and we have no other way to get around.nnI feel that this situation prevents us from taking on more work opportunities, I feel that we are restricted like animals. Without rights and without being able to make decisions.nnAt the moment I have given up. My husband says I should apply again, but I have lost all my strength.nI just wanted to tell my case and make people aware of it.
Everyone was so friendly except the blue hair lady in the ticket area. She treats people as if there are stupid. I have asked several question since the procedure was first time for me, first of all, she didn’t explain the procedure initially. Second of all, her action and tone was scolding me as if why are you asking me that to me. Who do I ask then??nnLast time when I visited, a man staff in the ticket section was just so friendly and lovely. Compared to that... She was just so rude. Why is she working there if she hates handling customers?
I want to thank Ash for being my driving instructor. He is a very easy going and pleasant person and just overall makes your entire experience less stressful. He also asks how your day is going and everything which is much appreciated. Also, the lady at the front desk was also kind and easy going. Overall, a much better experience than in Cairns city.
I would like to thank Ash the driving instructor that took my son for his test yesterday.nI was listening from a distance and he has a very nurturing and pleasant nature. Something that goes a long way when you are dealing with young people under pressure from a driving test.nHe also had a chat to my son at the counter which was very nice.nAn overall pleasant experience!
