Went to the Office of fair trading, small note saying they have moved down the road. went to building no access to get up no signs to say due to covid no assisting anyone. 2 other people were there. extremely poor experience. attempted to call impossible to get through. It will now take longer for me to get my sec license.
I had hire a business to clean my attic. While at work the cleaner fell through the ceiling and damaged it! Immediately after the accident he said he has got insurance and will get it fixed. Late I checked the quote and found that insurance was expired! He went to the hospital as he hurt his knee. After coming from the Hospital, he asked me to claim it on my home insurance and he said he will pay the access. He even suggested me that I lie to my home insurance! I did not and the Home insurance obviously denied the claim as the damage should be covered by the business working on the job as they were responsible. The process took a month and half and the cleaning business slowly distanced itself and stopped replying my emails. The agency through which I hired the business had also offered me a cover as the business was hired through them. They said they will look in to it and did not hear back from them, they did not reply my email. I made complaint with OFT! Ms Kimberley Hartley responded to the complaint. She was "advised' by the cleaning business that they gave the quote based on phone conversation but did not commence the work as it was not safe and did not do the damage. It was not true! They visited the place before sending me the quote. Even the email with quote starts with thank you for your hospitality earlier. There were witnesses who show them there after the accident happened. She was advised by the agency that they had already asked me to go to QCAT. Both were lying but once they "advised" it was good enough for Ms Kimberley Heartly! May be because people never lie? She did not even give me a chance to counter the lies which was being told! Did not look at any of the evidences I had. I made complained about it! Mr Andrew Blain responded to the complaint. He told me that the cleaning business offered to pay for the damage on the basis that I make no further claims. That is not true. The business agreed to pay but before going to the hospital. After coming from teh Hospital he told me that he barely makes $500 a week and does not have money. He wanted me to claim it on my home insurance Which I did and also wanted me to lie to the Home Insurance which I did not. There were witnesses. One of which even has written an affidavit. Another time which comes close is when he sent me a deed! I did not chase him between 1st Feb and 1st June 1week before QCAT complaint I sent him email. He responded by sending me a deed drafted by a lawyer. He was not serious about offering me money he just sent it so that he can say he offered me money. Which he did in QCAT mediation He said it is an order and I need to sing it before 5pm and he will pay me the money in 2days. I was definitely not going to sign the deed and send him back. If I had signed it and sent it back all I would have left with is piece of paper with my own signature! I told him that the conditions in the deed are acceptable but we both need to sign it and you can pay me cash for the signature in front of a JP. He did not agree! He was mocking me about it. He sent the deed at 12:56 and withdrew at 16:56. Did not even give me time to get advice. Anyway, this was not when the accident happened As Mr Blain claimed but 7months later. And about the agency who found the cleaner for me, Mr Andrew Blain reckons they are a search engine LOL...the agency is serviceseeking, it is not a search engine. If you read the emails between I and serviceseeking it is more then clear that they did not have any intentions to honor their promise of the protection cover. The protection cover is only marketing gimmick and they never asked me to go to QCAT before contacting OFT. I tried to counter lies presented by the cleaning service and serviceseeking but Mr Andrew Blain would not reply. May be I am beneath him and it hurts his sense of supremacy replying my emails? Very disappointed with the service! Avoid dealing with then!
Great service and great help I just want to Thank the team at Office of Fair Trading Southport.
Not worth calling. The Victorian authorities deal with stuff so much better. Qld office should be ashamed.pretty much get told bad luck everytime I need advice about a dispute or get told to seek legal advice
