Lovely location. Nice warm rooms love the gas fireplace. Cool wildlife. Amazing all you can eat buffet breakfast each morning included in the room price. Tavern food is a bit basic for what it costs but the pizzas are quite good stone fired. Tasty mulled wine also. Friendly service but the picnic packs are way over priced. Overall a lovely experience especially since it’s so close to a plethora of nice walks.
We recently had a wonderful stay here. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome at reception made us feel right at home. The hotel offers free parking. Our room was impeccably clean and tidy, equipped with a heater that kept both the room and bathroom cozy during our stay. The facilities were impressive, with various tour offerings that made it easy to explore the stunning surroundings. We joined the night safari. After a day of adventure at Cradle Mountain, we enjoyed relaxing in the hotel's lovely restaurant, complete with heaters for added comfort, a bar for unwinding, and even a snooker table for some fun. The location is ideal for visiting Cradle Mountain, making it a perfect base for exploring the breathtaking scenery. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we look forward to returning to this gem of a hotel!
Fantastic. Highly recommended. There is no TV and intermittent 4G reception at the lodge, so we stopped to buy magazines for an evening by the fire. Temperature was a welcoming 3 degrees on arrival. Lunch in the lodge tavern carrot / pumpkin soup; then more layers of clothes and we spent the afternoon on a few different walks. Cold cold cold..... Fantastic alpine scenery - unique - but the weather changes so quickly. Sunny to windy to even some sleet in a matter of hours. Seeing lots of animals in the wild - Bush wallabies; even a wombat. We also attended an information session ahead of our planned trek in the national park tomorrow. It is forecast to snow - so lots of clothes, preparation and safety required. Dinner in the tavern then walked back to cabin in the dark. We got hopelessly lost! .... I hope we do better tomorrow; otherwise this might be my last blog .....
Second year staying for our anniversary. Was pleasantly surprised and impressed the staff had left us a bottle of bubbles and put us in our requested cabin. Made my night that little detail was added. Only let down was on a Saturday night the bar attendant told us they were not doing cocktails. I think for the price we paid to stay we should be able to order cocktails at the bar after spending over $400 on food and drinks for the weekend… food was exceptional. Highly recommended the seafood marinara. Check in was easy and quick. Atmosphere was wonderful. Great winter wonderland escape if you can catch the snow!
It was one of the best places I've ever stayed at. The location is perfect! The cozy cabins nestled in the wilderness offer an ideal blend of comfort and nature. We dined at the bistro, where the food was standard pub fare but complemented by friendly service. Plus, spotting cute wombats roaming around added a special charm to the experience. Don't forget to explore the Enchanted Walks located at the back of the hotel.
Very very over priced for the room we got. We booked via phone and when we turned up they had no information on us at all, so they sent us for drinks while they booked our room and organised it for us.no apologies. By the time we got our room it was well and truly an hour of out of our room that we had paid for and it was almost tea time by the time we got to our room and got organised. The room was the same as all rooms but had a jacuzzi out side, which we paid an extra $1000 for apparently. Nothing more nothing extra for that price just a little jacuzzi out side on a very slippery deck with no shelter. The deck was slightly unsheltered and our towels were wet from rain by the time we got out of jacuzzi. Beautiful views, but could get that from all rooms. We was given no information on restaurants to eat at or shops or places to visit while at cradle. No information in rooms at all just a little map with directions of pathways for walks. We ate at the lodge as we were unaware of any other restaurants in the area and all information online was confusing if you don’t know the area. There was two other restaurants we found out the next day. The lady in reception did not understand English very well and that’s how we ended up with no booking. They lost our tea order and after an hour we asked and they were pretty good and refunded and had our meal out in an extra half hour, but it wasn’t that great. All over cooked and they were so busy they asked us to order basic drinks as they had no time to mix up the cocktails on the menu. It was definitely a very disappointing trip for the cost. Would not recommend the room, just pay for a spa room if you want to soak and relax or wait for a deal. It’s not worth it especially when everything else is overpriced and you will spend a fortune up there. Rooms: Over priced. All clean and nice. King Billy suite well and truly over priced. Nearby activities: If you don’t ask you won’t be told what’s on. There is an information centre on the way in if you want to find out what activities and walks are on and are worth while. Don’t expect any info to read from your room or from staff. On what’s about. Don’t wander away from tracks Lots of people get lost and hurt out there and can’t believe how fast the weather can deteriorate. Safety: The outdoor decks in the King Billy suite is extremely slippery and dangerous. For The long walks it should be compulsory to check in and have devices to help find you if you get lost or injured as there is no phone reception, especially in winter and spring as it can be very dangerous and the weather can go from nice to snow wind rain storms in a matter of half hour. You need warm warm clothing and something to keep you dry a torch and a portable charger is a must if on long walks just incase you need your light or help if you can get teception Walkability: Some good friendly tracks. Lots of slippery and uneven areas on other tracks and around the cradle mountain lodge aswell. Food and drinks: There is more than the lodge. Get them to tell you where the other eating places are or you will not be informed. No information in rooms or on maps. Food a little over priced for the quality in lodge. Faster atm to order at the counter for food and drinks. Noteworthy details: Beautiful area. Snow in winter spring makes for a great trip. Roads to cradle are dangerously slippery in wet or snowy conditions and windy and also after bad weather there is alot of deep dangerous pot holes and trees can fall on roads. Wild life like wallabies possums and wombats can be on the road and also cows and sheep as a lot of the roads are not fenced.
Such a disappointing experience. While the location is great for proximity to hiking, the lodge experience itself left lots to be desired. The spa was incredibly hard to book seems like they need to hire more folks/expand, as I heard many conversations between front desk staff and guests who were unhappy about the lack of spa availability. The facilities felt pretty outdated. The staff were nice but lacked training and guidance incorrect information on bus times, incorrect allergy accommodations in the tavern, etc. The lack of wifi seems to be a further indication of how outdated this hotel is I’ve seen responses that this is to help folks relax, but it should be better written on the website if that’s the case. Overall, certainly not worth the money, but the proximity to walking trails and the shuttle are great.
A surprise weekend was perfect with incredible sunny weather, beautiful hiking to Marion’s Lookout and relaxing accommodation. Rustic accommodation with common areas nice w fireplace. The Tavern is casual pub with average fare n big tv screens to watch sports. The highlander is the restaurant with nice menu at night but, better book as several couples checking in same time as us were told fully booked. Breakfast buffet is included with hot n cold dishes. Location right beside rangers office and shuttle into national park was fantastic. Local walks outside of park were beautiful too. Lodge has very limited signal for Telstra only n wifi in common areas only. Accomodation is limited in cradle mountain as are food options. There is a price premium so, if you can byo snacks/wine
Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge I do not recommend this hotel. I'll write to you why. We stayed here as a family for one night. The cost of the hotel is $500. There is no TV in this hotel. There is no signal on the phone. There is no Internet in any of the rooms in this hotel. The room is boringly cold, in the morning when I wanted to take a shower there was no warm water. Breakfast at this Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge hotel is very bad, the restaurant is so cold that you need to sit in a jacket. if you pay that kind of money for this hotel and want to relax in this hotel, then you will not be able to relax here. I do not recommend visiting this hotel. I was in other hotels nearby, the price was lower, the breakfast was better and the service was better. Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge All furniture and surroundings are outdated. This hotel is to extract money from people. for all services here you have to pay extra; it is built so that people pay for everything, but it does not give people any pleasure for what they paid. If you don't believe me, read other people's reviews.
First time at Cradle Mountain, web searched for dinner venue and Peppers showed a 2 course menu for $65pp so booked a table for 2, when given the menu noticed that it was $85pp for 2 course and showed the website, waitstaff checked with management and they said no that’s an old menu, it’s $85pp, ok we thought this will be fantastic, but NO, DO NOT waste your money, what a rip off, raised the website issue again but no offer of any discount, absolutely disgraceful. Try Wilderness Village restaurant and service is amazing.
