Calais Mount Resort Apartments are situated at the foot of Mt Maunganui, Mauao. Opened in 2000, Calais Mount Resort Apartments are self contained and serviced. All equipped with your own laundry facilities, some with spa baths.
32 beautifully appointed suites range from Studios to 2 bedroom + conservatory.
Studio Apartments from $130, Family Apartments from $170 per night.
The apartments are available for holiday accommodation, or long term rental.
We offer group discount rates which are great for wedding guests & sport teams.
We can offer each guest a 20% discount card for entry to the salt water hot pools which is situated opposite our resort. Ask at reception to take advantage of this.

Great location and good secure parking. Apartments are dated, which a coat of lighter paint would help. But the apartment is clean, comfortable and secure. There is also a lovely sunlit balcony to sit and relax in the afternoon. Reasonably priced and we would come to stay again...

Thoroughly enjoyed how close we were to the beaches, right below the mountain , hot pools straight across the road. What more could a family ask for. The clean homely vibe of the apartment we stayed in. Just made it that much . Definitely planning another family get away and staying here. Well done

Stay was good.  3 bedroom apartment has everything you need other than internet and air con.  Very dated but tidy.  It was very humid and with no air con and only 2 very cheap weak stand up fans we tried to sleep with the windows and door open BUT all rooms had blinds that just banged and knocked and rattled non stop.  At 2am none of us had slept 5 people so we closed all blinds to stop the banging but wow was it then hot so still couldn't sleep.  Yes its an old building and yes it is getting an update in 2023 but in the mean time I feel good fans should be supplied in all rooms and perhaps curtains not blinds as even if it was a cold night and windows had been closed the lights all around the exterior of the building light the rooms up better than the actual interior lights.  As for the no internet - well that's crazy in this day but perhaps don't advertise out the front that you have it since you don't!

Great location. Room size was good. Bathroom nice.  Room could do with a makeover. Otherwise reasonably priced & ok for a 1 night stay.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a conservatory and balcony. Plenty of room, a well set up kitchen. Clean and tidy. Staff were very obliging.. 2 night rate was very good.

Needs a major upgrade. A 2.5 star priced at a 4 star !!! My car has stains all down the window from something leaking from the roof of the garage. Blinds didn't close, so very light at night,and other motel could see into the room. They hung a sheet up!! Lighting in the room, and bathroom was very dim. Only good thing for the price ,was the location.I would NOT stay there again.

On a positive note, the location is great and the pressure in the shower is very good, and having a washing machine and drier is ver handy. Unfortunately, the Calais is seriously in need of some care and attention. A good makeover would be great but there’s no excuse for pealing paint, dust, rust, tired and old bedding and general lack of care. Not to mention no AC. These studios are independently owned so perhaps some are better looked after than others, but at $189 a night during peak periods I would look elsewhere- at least until it’s had an upgrade.

C grade accommodation. My impression was that it was more of an "Auckland" experience. I found this place to provide the minium level of service/facilities. The staff made it seem like they were doing me a favour for me to even be there. The layout was ambiguous, it was hard to see where the entrance to the elevator was. The rooms were in bad condition, they look like they haven't been maintained for the last 10 years. There were weird threatening messages in the room, the kind of messages you get from overbearing body corps. One of the doors in our room was locked, it was creepy because we couldn't see the lock, it seemed like someone could be hiding in there. At least the bed was clean and free of bed bugs. I really don't recommend this place.

Loved the proximity to the hot salt water pools and the bed was comfortable the rest was pretty tried and although there was a sign saying 2023 we will be refurbishing  - I think that is a bit too far off.

I think the whole building needs pulling down. Looks like it comes from the leaky building era.  Has a damp feel about the place. No heat pump, no free WiFi. No block out curtains , no double glazing. Only good thing is the location and shower.Rooms: 1/5
