Rob, Richard, Mike, Isaac, and the rest of the crew were absolutely phenomenal! Can’t believe there are actually negative reviews about this place. We did the Island Diver day cruise and it was the best experience we had. Everyone was so chill, very knowledgeable and informative but the best part was the dive locations. I have a saltwater tank at home and it was an amazing and humbling experience to be able to see the fish and coral in the natural environment. It was also awesome to see how protective the crew was about limiting any sort of harm or damage to the environment as well. They always wanted to make sure that most of all, we were having fun. Honestly the best experience of our 3 weeks trip to Australia for the first time and would highly recommend them to anyone!!!

Loved the experience and really appreciated how the staff really wanted to make sure that we had a fun and safe time. They were very friendly and went above and beyond to be accommodating to help us with some booking complications and to make arrangements for us to do further training with them. Lunch and the fresh fruit was great. This is one of the last small privately-owned diving companies and I would be sad to see fade away. I would recommend booking with them.

Five of us took a day trip out on the sunkist last weekend. The crew on the boat was very good, well organized and caring for everybody - thanks again for that. The ship itself is pretty run down and the weather was very bad that day, which led to quite a few people getting pretty sea sick on the board. Sadly, me and my girlfriend got very sick as well throughout the whole trip and were not able to go diving as we had previously booked. Since the weather conditions led to winds almost strong enough to call off the trip (according to one of the staff members) and us being seriously ill out there, we thought that getting a refund for the unused diving equipment would be no problem. We were told via email however, that there is no refund in any case for prebooked purchases, since we chose ourselves to cancel the dive. Great customer service on the company side I have to say.. we overheard one of the staff saying, that the owners don't even want to spend any money to fix anything on the boat until it gets completely unusable so that really says it all. We would have been happy to recommend for the staff on the boat, never company policies and t's & c's this bad for the paying customers.

We joined the CAIRNS DIVE CENTRE : 1 DAY OUTER REEF TRIP. The boat was so small and was so bumpy for the whole trip. My wife was suffering from a serious sea sick and she had to throw up a lot. The crew forced her to stay at the poop deck, claiming that’s the best place. It only made her feel even worse. Worst still, the crew did not ask her for her need at all, not even offering a cup of hot water! They are selfish and not considerate at all! I am so frustrated and disappointed. The same thing happened to another poor fellow on the boat and they did not offer any help either. The facility on the boat is disgusting with the toilets unclean for the whole day. The equipments are old and some of them are broken. The reef was so far way and has many waves! Not recommended for new beginners at all! The most disappointed day trip in Cairns!

We did the standard $140 snorkeling day trip. CDC served their purpose, which was to get us out to the Great Barrier Reef. I cannot recommend them to anyone who has not snorkeled before. We have gone snorkeling a number of times at beginner reefs in Hawaii, and I was still uncomfortable with the lack of safety instruction and general guidance we were given by CDC. I indicated on my sheet that I was only comfortable swimming the shorter distances for which buoyancy vests were supposedly required. For our first snorkel, when we were suiting up, I was not automatically given one and had to ask. The group received no instruction on how to use the masks and snorkels (fortunately, we knew already), and no guidance on wetsuit sizing at all. We were barely given any safety instructions, and had no idea how we were to know when to come back in. Once we got in the water, we were on our own. After lunch, we went out for our second snorkel, and Seth (? He was from Canada.) who was friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful and had just joined us, delivered the safety instruction we should have received the first time. He went through all the hand signals and so on. He also joined us in the water, and took us around pointing out interesting things. He also offered to help tow in anyone who was too tired. Had 5 Seths run the show, CDC would be getting 5 stars. But our experience up until that point had been pretty impersonal and lacking in essential information and guidance. If I needed something, I had to be willing to ask.
