Gilligan's is the ultimate experience in accommodation and entertainment set in the heart of Cairns. Offering guests 5* backpacker accommodation, nightly entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere whilst soaking up the sun, why choose to stay anywhere else?

All room types are fully equipped with an full en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and four floors of communal areas. Or perhaps try our deluxe dormitories; designed to offer that little bit extra. Available in 4 and 6 bed configurations, these rooms offer TVs, refrigerators and all have a private balcony to kick back and relax after a long day at the reef, rainforest or even a lazy day by our pool.

It doesn't end there...our outdoor lagoon pool is encompassed by a beer deck which during the day offers chilled music, enjoy the atmosphere and maybe even a cold beverage. By sunset this area transforms into a exhilarating night offering a wide range of entertainment evenings from Live entertainment and dj's 7 nights per week, Trivia, Wildlife Show, Beer Pong, Talent Show, Jelly Wrestling, Wet T-Shirt, Pole Dancing and much more as well as on weekends where national and international DJ acts are flown in for that added extra only Gilligan's can provide.

nnAlthough we didn’t have a room booked this time, the venue itself looked incredibly welcoming and well-maintained from the outside — definitely the kind of place we'd love to stay in on our next trip!nnWe did, however, stop in for a meal, and the food was absolutely amazing. The $10 specials were an unbeatable deal — generous portions, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. Great value, great vibe, and friendly staff made it a standout stop. Can’t wait to come back and experience the full stay!
Great location, nearby to everything we needed and super social.nFood from restaurant was decent we had $10 pizzas and evening events were fun and different to most hostels we’ve stayed in.nThe layout was nice, each floor had a good social area with sofas and a TV plus a kitchen. However, the kitchen wasn’t the cleanest and quite small for the amount of rooms, you also had to make your own bed but sheets were clean and the rooms were cleaned daily. We also didn’t find it noisy with the club in the night which was good.
We went into the bar for a couple of drinks, and it was a cool space! Security takes IDs very seriously which we appreciated. They had live music playing making it hard to have a conversation but if you’re there to dance that’s fine. The bartenders are all young people so not the most attentive but they got the job done. We went earlier in the evening on a Sunday so it wasn’t too busy but i see how it could be fun on a busier night out!
stayed here with a group of friends and had a great time.nweird song choices in the bar but great rooms, kitchen and lots of events in the evening. Felt more like a hotel than a hostel
My cheerful energy was deemed as intoxication. The waitress serving me aggressively demanded I drink water upon ordering a drink I was sober and drinking cokes up until this point, then proceeded to kick me out when I refused. The acting manager failed to properly assess the situation and relied solely on the waitress’s account without speaking to me directly. Staff need to learn the difference between someone who’s drunk and someone who’s simply enjoying themselves. Disappointing and unnecessary behaviour but clearly not an isolated incident from reading past reviews of this establishment.
