Gilligan's is the ultimate experience in accommodation and entertainment set in the heart of Cairns. Offering guests 5* backpacker accommodation, nightly entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere whilst soaking up the sun, why choose to stay anywhere else?

All room types are fully equipped with an full en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and four floors of communal areas. Or perhaps try our deluxe dormitories; designed to offer that little bit extra. Available in 4 and 6 bed configurations, these rooms offer TVs, refrigerators and all have a private balcony to kick back and relax after a long day at the reef, rainforest or even a lazy day by our pool.

It doesn't end there...our outdoor lagoon pool is encompassed by a beer deck which during the day offers chilled music, enjoy the atmosphere and maybe even a cold beverage. By sunset this area transforms into a exhilarating night offering a wide range of entertainment evenings from Live entertainment and dj's 7 nights per week, Trivia, Wildlife Show, Beer Pong, Talent Show, Jelly Wrestling, Wet T-Shirt, Pole Dancing and much more as well as on weekends where national and international DJ acts are flown in for that added extra only Gilligan's can provide.

Gilligan's is a great place to go for a few cheap relaxed drinks during the day. There's a huge outdoor space kept cool by ceiling fans that overlooks a pool. It gets a bit rowdier as the day goes on but it's still one of my favourite places to go when I just want some chilled beers.

Gillies has additional (free) access to neighboring club "The Attic", so getting into Gilligans isn't hard. Bathrooms are abundant and easy to recognize no matter how sloshed you are. Has 1 bar inside, which circles outside as well, making outside have a total of 2 bars. Lines vary on the events (like all do). Outside (smokers) also has a stage for live gigs that occur weekly from local artists. Good atmosphere, vibes are chill some nights so drama sometimes ensues and that picks the energy up again.

Stayed here twice now, good rooms, large beds, just a shame the sockets are all by the shower area and not by each bed.

We upgraded to a double room for our last night of 6 and it was damp and wet. After speaking to the guys at Reception the management moved us and made sure we were looked after.

Great party vibe but not loud enough to deter sleep!

What could be better than an icy cold beer under the shade of an ancient mango( ? ) tree after a humid walk around the precinct ? . Good music in the background, the splashing of a cooling waterfall- backed swimming pool. Atmospheric. Has a vibe !

The hostel is big, very big. The only upside is the fact that every floor has a kitchen and communal area. The rooms smell damp, like a bunch of wet towels have been lying around for a few days. The club at gilligans is great, if you feel like partying. If you're trying to get some sleep for that early daytrip or an early flight, the music is not that great. You can hear it all throughout the hostel, making it hard to fall asleep. The rooms also have way to little power outlets, at the most inconvenient places. Overall this is one of the least enjoyable stays I've had in a hostel.
