Bumps Ski & Surf

Expen$ive!!! Over the years I have bought a number of big ticket items from Bumps. A pair of boots that didn't do much for me ....on my next trip I found a Strolz dealer, bit the bullet and went through the physical and economic pain of buying a pair. Undoubtedly the best fitting boots there are but the injection moulding wasn't fun. After trying a number of different types of skis on that trip I decided to buy a pair of Volkl AC50's before my next trip. Bumps didn't have that model but had their Grizzly model. The salesman ensured me if I liked the AC50's I would love the Grizzly's, so with my departure date less than a week away I bit the bullet. They weren't cheap and I hate them. The binding is integrated so there was nothing to salvage, now they gather dust. Since that time a new ski shop has opened, on Grattan st in Prahran, and I have bought a few things there. My POC Fornix helmet (5/5 stars - fits like a glove and so light) possibly took a knock last trip, thankfully on the last afternoon. I spent the next week in a French hospital (also 5/5 stars - red wine with dinner one night, coffee and croissants for brekky, only one meal that was slop...and early in my visit opiates straight into my bloodstream) and almost three years later, yesterday, with less than 10 days until I am skiing Japow the niggling voice in my head won and I decided to replace it. A♡##/€e Skier (Grattan st) didn't have my size in a colour I liked, so I rang Bumps who kindly put aside their last matt black M/L for me. This afternoon I couldn't help but whistle at the till when I heard the price...rounded up it was $280. I mentioned that A♡##/€ Skier had them for $165, I thought, but that my phone was in the car so I couldn't check. That was met with "we can't match that, and I doubt they're selling for that price". I paid and back at my car checked...asking $195 and with my $10 coupon $185, so I wasn't far off. She didn't even offer to check online or take a few bucks off. With ski tuning available in the CBD I have spent my last dollar at Bumps. Their selection is good and when I recently bought a new backpack from them, after asking about the ski attachment on the Douchebag the sales people expressed their doubts about the practicality of it and recommended a cheaper bag, hence the extra star. Do grab yourself a pair of Strolz if circumstances allow, replace your helmet if you suspect the protection it offers has been compromised and buy skis you have skied on and like...but mostly don't leave it until the last minute.

Fantastic service, very professional and knowledgeable staff. Spent more than an hour and a half on a Saturday morning getting ski boots fitted, complicated by one of my feet being 3/4 size bigger than the other. George was very helpful and patient and I was very happy with the outcome. Had a great week of skiing in my new boots and have been feeling way more confident on the snow. Thanks again bumps! :)

Great service. Peter, the MASTER boot fitter, adjusted my boots for a better fit. I thought I would be up for a new pair of boots. But he did his magic. Awesome end of season sale on ski gear also...
