I spent about 2 hours in here just browsing all the books before I actually bought a couple myself … so many books to buy… from witchcraft to mushroom books , every type of book you can think of lol!! Staff are very helpful and friendly.. I came all the way from western suburbs, definitely worth it!!
One of the few places where you are reminded that books are not dead and that they still have a place in the world. Kinokuniya has a lot of books that cater for everyone and there’s every subject you could think of both fiction and non fiction, there is a cafe attached and one of my favourite things are the display books where you can have a look at books that typically come sealed so you can’t see what’s inside. The display book allows you to flick through and make a more informed decision about your purchase. There’s some areas for you to sit if you want, they also sell magazines for niche topics, book marks, stationary. A book worm’s paradise
So much manga. And MXTX !! Any MXTX lovers definitely go here, especially tgcf fans bc in the japanese/chinese section of the store, there's mxtx merch! I could literally get lost just looking at everything.
For me the best bookshop in Sydney. Massive range. Huge amount of books. Tons of beautiful reading. Trillions of words. In other words if you like to read this is Z-Game Mode. My usual solitary Saturday morning. Take the bus into downtown and first stop and really the only sun reason stop is Kinokuniya. Though will grab a burger and then have a couple of pints afterwards. Then back on the bus with my book loot. Reading is popular. People love books yet, when I was in the army it was better to hide your books in case your mates thought you were smart…uh oh, the bus just broke down…no it’s moving again. Where were we, oh yes books! Kinokuniya is the go to book stire. You can have a coffee, cake and talk at the in-store cafe. Though it’s always packed and difficult to get a table. I bought four books today $99.00, three for me and one book for my son, an anime graphic novel part five. Kinokuniya is in the Galleries Victoria right on the corner of George Street and Park Street. Directly opposite Sydney Town Hall. Two escalators up and the store covers a huge area. Great gift area and if you’re into stationary well this is your scene. Kinokuniya is a Japanese product and their attention to sales detail and variety is atomic boss level. I’ve always wanted to find romance in a bookstore and Kinokuniya would be the prefect for. Of course one doesn’t live by dreams alone and if I did I wouldn’t need to read. Books are awesome. Kinokuniya is awesome. Get some!
Next to the book store not sure if it’s belongs to the same group? It says it’s the best chiffon cake in Sydney. It’s a bit overpriced but tastes fab!
Wow the most amazing cakes. We went to have the tiramisu Japanese pancake cake! Great coffee and then there’s the rest of the store!!
The store itself is huge and they have absolutely everything here! There are books on fashion, art, architecture, food, culture, philosophy, history and everything else in-between. There's also classic literature. I bought myself a book on Oscar de la Renta, a book on Chloé and a book on the artist Jan Van Eyck. They are beautiful books and I am so excited to read them! Inside there is an amazing Japanese café with delicious coffee, tea and pastries too. The staff are helpful, friendly and polite and willing to assist at anytime. I highly recommend this book store to everyone, as well as all of Kinkokuniya's other stores too.
One of my favorite places in Sydney Easily to spent all day in here. Sitting down on the floor and they’re allowed you to bring coffee in. I wish you could have another store in Cumberland area, for all the peoples who live in the west side .
Nice big. Lots of books and different languages as well
Instead of accusing everyone who brings their own book into the store of stealing, kindly advise customers to let security know if a book is being brought into the store so that any misunderstandings can be avoided. The security lady on shift at 5PM today needs an attitude check for very rudely telling a customer that it’s their problem and fault that they didn’t notify staff about the book they purchased elsewhere before entering the store. The rest of the staff are lovely though.
