Story

Step back in time at Bendalls the home of convict merchant Samuel Bendall. This heritage listed home has been lovingly restored using traditional and eco-friendly methods by friendly hosts Karen and Roger.

Bendalls is conveniently located 5 minutes from Hobart city centre, Salamanca Place and the historic waterfront, is 20 minutes from the airport and handy to major thoroughfares for day trips.

At the end of your touring day take a break on the verandah and enjoy stunning views of Mt. Wellington. Then, as the sun goes down, head off to nearby North Hobart and experience Tasmanias superbly tasty food in one of 30 restaurants and cafes.

Our rooms have a cosy dining area, cutlery, crockery and food preparation area. Rooms are handy to a microwave, refrigerator, BBQ and washing machine.

The all-seasons organic organic garden has a range of flowers, vegetables and fruit which we make into preserves and jams for a delicious complimentary breakfast tray.

I made a reservation at this hotel and had a written confirmation (including confirmation number). On the day before we arrived, having made flight and car hire commitments based on our confirmed booking, they cancelled our reservation. They dishonoured it, and gave us NO alternatives. There is nothing more hidden in this story, they just cancelled it having, probably, received a better alternative booking. On that basis, don't trust these people, don't rely on them and don't go through AsiaRooms. Beware.

This is written on behalf of my parents .. Pam & Bob "Recently on holiday in Tasmania we found a gem in NewTown, Hobart. Heritage listed 19th Century colonial accomodation. Bendalls has been lovingly restored by Karen and Roger with great attention to the smallest detail. Not too big and grand but quietly beautiful and comfortable, the tariff is very reasonable with free breakfasts and the added luxury of home preserves. Bendalls is situated high enough to have a rolling view over Hobart to the rocky face of Mt. Wellington from the up and down stairs verandahs. Shopping centres are within walking distance, and there are many and varied good eating places. The garden has been thoughtfully planned to complement the building and at the time is productive.
