Clean, doesn't smell like some of the other old theatres or new ones. I liked the display of the old cinema projector in the foyer! <3 Could be improved, perhaps with a VIP gold class room? Currently the seats incline backwards with no headrest, had a sore neck after the movie. Otherwise, good cinema and sound systems.
Last night of mackay cinema enjoyed the final movie JAWS immensely
Smaller than Mount pleasant but it was also less busy. It's showings and selected movies are different as there is only 4 cinemas though. Regardless it is a decent cinema, you don't get set seating which I found nostalgic. Worth going to if you aren't fussed and closer to the city cinema than Mount pleasant.
Older style theatre with single level seating like school assembly used to be. This is based on my first experience here but when ordering popcorn and drinks and asking what deals they had the staff member looked like he wasn't that interested in explaining. The theatre is very clean so no issues there.
Great cinema with a variety of movies showing. There isn't many people which makes it even better! The prices are a bit high; $19.00 for an adult ticket and the candy bar $10 for large popcorn. Better off buying from Coles before entering the cinema.
This cinema is easily the worst cinema I’ve ever been to!! After the ticket price of 19$ per adult plus 31$ for two medium popcorn and two waters!?!? 69$ for two movie goers is a total rip off for a clearly aged cinema. The staff behind the counter were less than friendly and I had to repeat what I requested twice no smiles no pleasant attitudes here.. our screening time was 15:35 and the manager was struggling to clean the cinema at 15:25 with everyone waiting In the foyer with no seating and the seating available was run down.. For the price we won’t be back we drove from airlie beach to see a film movie was good pitty BIRCH CARROLL and COYLE can’t run a cinema to save themselves...
Absolutely terrible for a Birch Carrol Coyle / Event branded cinema! You expect some sort of semi-quality when you pay the extra dollar for BCC, but this place is so sub-par. I would expect something like this from Cineplex in Brisbane, but not from the BCC brand.. Firstly, they need to employ someone to clean up after each session and not leave such a dirty cinema with food strewn everywhere for the next session. The seating in the cinema i was so tattered and torn and the comfort and space between the seats would even make Jestar shudder. In fact, it would make a Jetstar domestic flight seem like an Emirates international flight by comparison. Some girl two rows in front of me actually had her shoe stick to the floor to the point that her foot came out of her shoe and she had to put it back on again. There's some speakers or subs for the cinema located behind the actual screen so the screen vibrates when the sound is loud, and on bright scenes, you can actually see it vibrating. The only positive i can say about this cinema is the staff were exceptional! They were very cheerful and friendly, and more than accommodating to any requests. They do customer service right. Its just a shame there isn't staff to clean up the cinema's after each session as well. Its obvious this cinema is aged, but the aging i saw could easily be remedied with some renovations while still keeping the charm of the classic cinema.
Excellent cinema catering for the residents and visitors of Mackay. Prices are fair.
Simple cinema but it does the job. It is definitely in need of an upgrade but the great thing about it is that if you are a cinebuzz member, you can have access to the $10 movie of the week. Parking was a bit of an issue, but we got lucky.
Old but comfy.... quiet cinema but in town close to everything. Not many people do choose any seat you want. Toilets old but very clean.
