I had an awful birthing experience here from start to finish. The list of let downs felt endless.nThe midwife Heather was the most scattered person I’ve ever met, and it seemed like it was her first day on the job leaving me frustrated and with zero confidence in her. My husband actually started to jump in to deliver my baby because he felt she was so incompetent.nThe junior doctor stuffed up my blood work which led to me missing out on the epidural I was waiting for which was heartbreaking at the time. She also mucked up my Canula insertion and I had to do this twice. When I delivered my baby, all I could do was cry from how awful the whole experience had been as opposed to how happy and overjoyed I was to finally hold my baby.nAfter delivery I was put in a freezing cold shared room which felt like a prison and only a pathetic thin blanket was given to me when I asked for something warm. This was in June 2024 and it honestly felt as though they don’t have heating at night!nI missed out on dinner because I was asleep when they brought the meals around so was given Vegemite on crackers which is all they could find me.nI couldn't sleep because they make you leave your doors open and the noise levels were ridiculously loud.nI was made to stay an extra night with my baby so they could monitor him for potential problems overnight, except that they didn’t do any monitoring!nThey also mucked us around when it was time to be discharged from this hell hole so that we were left waiting for hours for no real reason.nI had two good midwives there I appreciated Annie and I think Bertie was her name, otherwise I have nothing but bad memories and bad things to say.
Latest stuff up was they lost my sent late Nov 2024 referral to the specialist, this was after they confirmed by Dec 2024 sms they had received it. Phoned week and a half ago to tell me they didn't have a current referral and that I'd need another one as they didn't have it and no record of ever receiving it. In the less than one week it took for me to go to the GP, which I told them I had an appointment for something else but that I'd get another referral they'd given my appointment away. Received a letter that my long awaited appointment was now, in another three months time. The receptionist claimed it must've been the Dr who changed the appointment. Been feeling quite unwell. I told the receptionist this, she said oh well you'll have to wait until May. No wonder people get late diagnoses..
Personally had a few in the moment bad experiences and regrettably I haven't always handled those moments the best of ways. So as a professional courtesy and way to say thank you for the time and energy spent by the ever persistent and overwhelmed medical professional's. Thank you for reliably assisting myself for the last 30 years and doublely so for my last few visits. That last one A residence Nurse took a little bit longer to explain a few things and just sat with me while I sat through agrieveated pain and anxiety. 5 Stars for the deication of the staff that want to help everyone as best they can with the resources they have on hand.nYes I will admit Bias against the greed that hold GP's from the personal experience of being prescribed medication fixes but never aiding me in finding the source of the chronic pain I've dealt with for 25 year and ignored under general advice from gp's.n2 visits in 1 month fuel by panic and pain I now know enough about the root cause to start simple rehab while I await further imaging.nChampions of AustralianThank you
A 'doctor' in ED asked a nurse permission to take my blood, then had no idea how to do it and after a few mins of poking my nerves the nurse had to take over I almost asked if she'd rather I give it a go. Sent me home with gallstones and inflamed gallbladder - no information on what to do/not to do/diet changes I might want to implement. Thank god for doctor google! If it's that easy to become a doctor, where even basic knowledge can go out the window, I might just look at med school if any idiot can do it!
Absolutely disgusted with the lack of care & communication in this hospital after taking my friend in for abdominal pain. They told us it was pancreatitis, then said it was an ovarian cyst and THEN said it was an abscess on her pelvic tubes. OVER 24 hours later still not in a room and not receiving any helpful information or care.
