I could walk before I had an arthroscopy at the Ballarat Base Hospital. Since having surgery there, walking is now the hardest task of my life. I’m so mad and upset. I was in a wheelchair for 3 months after the arthroscopy and I’m still learning how to walk again. What did you guys do to me???nnI was wheeled out the front of the Hospital, after I woke up suddenly not being able to walk anymore and left there for 9+ hours.nnI can rarely walk on uneven ground now without assistance. I could walk on uneven ground before the arthroscopy. I have only been able to get down and up my driveway a handful of times since this surgery. It also takes me half an hour to do it.nnAfter my surgery, I was prescribed Palexia on top of Panadeine Forte AND PARACETAMOL! I didn’t know that this was an unsafe dosage, so I took 2 tablets of each-after I fell down the stairs IN A WHEELCHAIR after getting home from the Hospital because my pain from surgery and falling down brick steps was so severe. I overdosed on Opiods for the first time. It was terrifying. My partner had to administer Narcan and call 000. My partner says that my eyes had rolled back, before he put the Narcan in my nose. We are still both having nightmares about all of this.nnToday, I can’t take more than 5 steps at a time, on flat ground.
Needed to visit ED yesterday. A huge shout out to all of the reception, nurses, drs and volunteers etc. So, so busy, very long wait but everything kept calm. The sick and the wounded just kept coming and coming. nThankyou in particular to young respiratory Doctor Eric. Sorry don't know your surname. I just wanted to say thankyou!
I presented to the ED distressed with chest pain and following my triage was immediately taken through to treatment. I was very promptly tended to and had bloods and an xray done within an hour or two. Even my husband was brought a cup of tea. Every single member of staff that I encountered treated me with such compassion and calm energy. These guys are legends and I am so appreciative of their hard work.
Had a surgical procedure, quite a long one, on Thursday morning and the team of surgeons, anasthesiologist and nurses, especially the head surgical nurse were beyond reproach. Professional but also very caring and human when your very scared and vulnerable. Once on the ward okay but so busy nurses don't have much time for you and was told I'd be there 2 to 5 days but was very unceremoniously kicked out next day, really needed at least one more day as they took out drains etc and couldn't check on how its all healing as they sent me on my way with the sagely advise that if it gets infected go to the doctor or if it starts bleeding badly ring an ambulance. Two very different experiences from surgery to recovery
I was treated in April by this Emergency hospital department, they did have me placed into a wheelchair and put in the waiting room for a few hours tops after being taken there by ambulance but I was treated for a Hemiplegic migraine after having Cluster convulsive seizures requiring CPR and rescue mouth breathing to be done.nMy treatment from the medical staff and doctors was both caring and professional. I was even offered a wheat/gluten and Lactose free lunch before I was discharged the next day.
