I love the spicy broth and the endless toppings! Yum! Customer service was also good! I paid less than $16.00! Cheap eats right there.
Great value for money Malatang inside District Dining. There is a large selection of ingredients to choose from and a good range of soup bases. We tried the bone broth, Laksa, tomato base and spicy chilli. The spicy chilli was our favourite. The unlimited condiments was also appreciated! Highly recommended!Food: 5/5
Pretty good imho. Cashier insists on speaking mandarin to me i can't comprehende but not my friend the mala cooking has decent flavours not cheap.....
Pick whatever and pay for what you like. Easy simple Malatang, I love the spicy soup base. They have so many varieties of vegetables or meat for you to pick from. So you pick what you want to have in your soup/stir-fry, weight, pick soup base/stir-fry sauce and pay. I found it's slow around 15 to 20mins to get your food, so you have to make sure you are not starving before hands. When it's too busy, only 1 front of house staff that has to clean and not enough for many people that are waiting for tables. I went to get takeaway during lockdown, you pay 50c for container which if they are no dinein they should scrape it dont you think?
Had the pork bone soup. Taste was very average and waited for over 20 mins to get food. Probably cutting it close to 25mins. Like I’m not sure what took so long, it’s malatang! I already picked out the main ingredients, all they needed to do was quickly blanch it and then cover it with the broth . The long wait time cut into my lunch break…. didn't even have time to go get milk tea coz it took so long sigh….
Ordered tomato soup, broth did not taste like tomato at all. They also use imitation scallops, not real scallops, very disappointed in that. And the person serving seemed unhappy and unfriendly
A range of soups here. You’ll need to pick out your own little bits and bobs, and the soup you prefer. We love the spicy soup, and the soup with a bit of milk the poster is on the door towards the right- I literally point at that poster to Indicate the soup I want. Can be incredibly healthy if you choose all the veges with a beautiful broth. We come here every week to have our healthy food fix.
The Fun House is a great place to create your malatang meal as it has a wide variety of Chinese-based veggies and noodles, and delicious soups. I recommend you have it a go and see what you could create. As for customer service, I believe they are a bit short stock; however, as for the staff, they take care of the food and maintain the restaurant. I highly recommend bone soup if you don't want something spicy or have spicy soup with a little bit of a kick in it.
Pros - sauces outside so you can put as much as you want - there was water there - got the pork bone soup and the soup was really nice! - good price ate 1kg for $35 Cons - Heavy bowl that you put the ingredients in - You don't pay for what you get! Little context on the cons.. The bowl we used to put our ingredients in was really heavy compared to other malatangs which usually has a clear light bowl. I dont believe they take the bowl weight out so you're paying for the bowl weight aswell. Also my partner and I usually share a bowl and as I dont eat noodles, I tend to use the enoki mushrooms as my noodles. While getting my enoki mushrooms, I always pick them apart first so they dont come all in a bunch when it's cooked. When receiving our bowl, we both dug in to find my enoki mushrooms but unfortunately it wasn't there. We didn't complain as the price was great for 1kg and I could make do without my enoki mushrooms. Later while we were eating, we saw that the enoki mushrooms were restocked and I jokingly said to my partner "imagine if they took it out and put it back" we bantered on it for awhile until my partner actually went up to go check and there it was all broken enoki mushrooms laying there... We still didn't make a complaint but I thought I'd write a review of my actual experience and hopefully they'll see this and change their ways. People notice these things... they may not be able to notice if they didn't use enoki mushrooms as their noodles but for me it was different cause I actually used them as my noodles! Eat on your own risk and count the items you put in your bowl.
Just a convenient cheap meal option in Chatswood where you can customise your own bowl. The buffet-style ingredient selection is limited and not of premium quality. But I do like they offer 4 different types of soup bases; and if your selections are more than 500g in weight, you can opt to have a dual soup base at no extra charge.
