I’ve stayed at a lot of YHAs around the world and Nelson was exactly what I hoped for — clean, safe, and super welcoming. Big shoutout to Royce & Linda and all the team who made me feel right at home.nnLocation is spot on, right in the CBD and right by the Abel Tasman shuttle pick-up — super handy for early starts. The hostel has everything you need for a reset between hikes: good showers, a solid kitchen, laundry with $1 detergent scoops, and even a little sauna my tired legs were very grateful for that!.nnLoved the friendly, family vibe here — it was so easy to stay longer than planned. Highly recommend if you’re after a tidy, relaxed base in Nelson without the party hostel chaos.
Peaceful, clean, comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchens. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The location was great and on our first morning there was a big market in the square right outside the door. Will definitely stay here again, thanks!
One of my favourite hostels! Very peaceful and clean, even cleaner than some of the short-term rentals I've stayed in, back in Australia. Friendly staff and spacious dining areas/kitchens. Stayed in a private room here, and they'd also happily change your sheets/vacuum often. It's near the grocery store and galleries, the Nelson market is just round the corner every Saturday, what a convenient location. Will be back for sure, when I return to Nelson :-
Excellent rooms bathrooms clean tidy well presented the room heater kind of good bit on and off. The bed comfy blankets good. Very clean kitchen the manager is a star
I needed to have a quick quiet clean safe place to rest for the night between treks, do laundry, grocery and pharmacy resupply, so much in one day to make the most of my dream trip hiking in new zealand. YHA Nelson helped me make the most of my time. There were plenty of wash/drier units but I still recommend you start your laundry asap because everyone seems to do laundry last minute. There were plenty of bathrooms, plenty of showers, two large kitchens fully stocked with pots and pans had i chosen to cook, a big dining area with an outdoor patio. Everything is cleaned regularly. Staff is super helpful when booking tickets, and they gave me 100% of their attention when i needed their help. They totally anticipated my needs and were so helpful. These days it's awesome to have live reception at a hostel. My second visit i came in late and amazingly they were still there and I didn't have to worry about messing around with booking online. I stayed in a private room which was awesome, perfect when my pack exploded and I had to reorganize everything. My second stay I stayed in the women's dorm full of other angel hikers, all quiet and respectful. I highly recommend this place. Thank you to all the awesome staff there that helped me make the most of my time in Nelson so I could get back on the trail. Excellence and hospitality, and so lucky to have these services at budget friendly rates. You guys are doing it right! Thanks again!
