Woolworths Hornby

I’ve been shopping here for years now and most of the staff are familiar faces but yesterday I was really taken back by the customer service. My husband and I bumped into my younger brother and his friend in the supermarket. We said hello then went separate ways to pay. The lady on the self serve wouldn’t let him buy alcohol because we were seen as all together. He’s 21 and we’re both 28. Because my hubby and I didn’t have our ids he couldn’t buy his drinks. The woman was just smiling and giggling at us while I was trying to get her to explain to me why us not having our id is anything to do with his purchasenot to mention we’re clearly well over 18. So a big fuss was made and she took away the drinks. Very embarrassing and very strange. We still don’t understand why as she didn’t bother to answer. I guess seeing a familiar face in the supermarket now means you’re shopping together? Not only have prices been so high here but the service is appalling. We will be shopping anywhere but countdown from now on!

Very large and modern store. Clean inside. Prices are generally OK and you have multiple options for everybody's budget. Big parking lot with free parking. Only downside, and reason for the missing star in my review is that they were out of eggs, and this was the only thing I really needed. However this was Maybe because I was late

Oops, this is an old review that wasn't posted, but here it is anyway.nFor a big city, Christchurch stores have such a pitiful selection of goods.nThere's certainly very little choice.nYou either don't stock all the brands varieties or flavours, don't stock it at all, or worse, what you do stock is out.nTropical Raro.nNo lime. No raspberry. No lemonade. No blackcurrant.nNo idea!!!nAnd to run out of a product?nSeriously?nIn this day and age, with the technology used to track stock?nPerhaps your stock re-order prompt numbers need re-visiting...nAnd blaming the 'deadly pandemic' is just, well, old!nLike I said, pitiful.nPS. It's nothing personal.nIt's a Christchurch wide failing when it comes to lack of variety.nBut something that is yours to own.nThat bloody great big mountain we have to go over coming into the carpark?!nIs that really necessary?nUnfortunately the photo doesn't at all give an indication of the diverse levels.nAnd just one more thing.nGiven the price of grocery items, you think you could swing for a few more lights in your carpark.nNot user friendly when you've never been to the store prior, it's night time, no-one else is leaving, and you don't know where the heck to go to get outta there!!!nIf lights are out of your budget, how about a couple of cheap signs depicting the way out?!

I have been shopping here from sometime and staff might have been familiar with my face. Today my husband and I were shopping together and got beers. She wouldn’t let us buy and even refused to see my idphotocopy on my phone. She only wanted actual carrying ID card to be verified. I have grey hair visible on my head and over 30 years. And she is smiling weirdly while refusing to take the beers.nSuch pathetic experience , we had to run to another store to grab beers. Their loss. But waste of time for us.

Great shop..great prices ..very nice for old people...
