Incredible modern Japanese restaurant! The food here was tasteful, and all felt well put together, blending for a seamless taste in your mouth. The service was also amiable, and I thought they made the experience even more personal. The Chawanmushi, in particular, was eye-opening, a total difference from others I have tried. I highly recommend it if you can bear the price of their meals.
3.5/5.0nnAn example where anesthetics has taken prioritiy over practicality.nnCame in for dinner, seated to the west of the bar area. No air conditioning and thread drapes, when combined with the afternoon sun the area we were seated in became uncomfortably hot. The staff appeared to know this is a problem in Jan and Feb.nnAlso, probably best for 2 to 4 persons. We were seated at a longer table with a booth on one side chairs on the other. Really the width is for a max of 6, with 2 kids the table was overly cramped. Would have been better off being told they don't have adequate seating and booked dinner elsewhere.nnFresh oysters not shucked cleanly, shell fragments reduced the experience.nnFlavourful food, but let down by several aspects you'd think would be considered when dining at this price point.
We come for a late dinner and I had high hopes for this place, but we were mostly disappointed.nnWe ordered the $75 menu and the food was tasty enough though nothing special.nnService was a problem. The waitstaff were almost impossible to hear as they spoke far too quietly.nnAfter our first round of drinks, our glasses sat empty for over an hour. Not once did anyone ask if we wanted another drink.nnWhen the main arrived, we had to ask for some rice. We watched as the waiter brought three small bowls in from the outside kitchen - and put them into a microwave to heat. I’ve never seen that at an Asian restaurant before.nnOverall, the service was not up to standard and has much room for improvement.
We tried the 75pp set menu. The starters and dessert were amazing - had great flavours that paired well with each other. The upgrade to 5 varieties of sashimi was well worth it - all the fish were very fresh. All of the mains we got, however, were bland, especially after the starters.nnWould I recommend the set menu? Yes. Would I go back again for it? No, but I would go back and just order my favourite starters and the dessert, forgoing the main.
Beautiful Japanese cuisine with a modern twist. Every dishes we had were delicious and well presented. Professional and friendly service.
