Great place for an inner city run or walk with the dog. If you use the outside footpath it is 1.33km per lap.
HistorynnCreated/opened in 1905 by Mayor Arthur Myers. Named in honour of Queen Victoria, who had died in 1901.nnThe land was originally part of Freemans Bay, which was then reclaimed — that’s why the park is so flat and level.nnEarly features included a grandstand, playground equipment donated by John Court in 1912, and a kindergarten.nnIt has also served other roles: during the 1918 flu pandemic used as a temporary morgue / storage of bodies and during WWII for US Armed Forces accommodationnn---nnFacilities & What You Can DonnVictoria Park offers quite a lot, especially being so central:nnSports fields cricket etc., practice space, informal ball games. Grafton United Cricket Club is based here.nnA pavilion building with changing rooms etc. is managed by the Victoria Park Sports & Cultural Trust.nnSkate park, basketball court.nnChildren’s playground.nnWalking / jogging / fitness paths. There is a sealed loop path around the perimeter ~900m.nnPicnic and seating areas, drinking fountains, public toilets.nn---nnNearby / Other AttractionsnnVictoria Park Market is right adjacent: historic buildings repurposed into shops, cafes, restaurants. Great for food & shopping.nnThe precinct around the park also has cafes, bars, boutiques etc.nn---nnThings to Know Before VisitingnnSince it’s urban, parking can be limited; there are entry access points from several streets Beaumont, Fanshawe, Halsey, Victoria Street West and carparks.nnDogs: leash rules apply unless signs say otherwise.nnThe park is smokefree.
Gorgeous park in the city and one of my fav spots. Good for small walks or or just sitting around. Good seating options and has a good sized green space for throwing a ball, cricket or soccer. Also has children's and adult playground.
Just an average Park. It does have a big playground, a cricket pitching and hitting cage, and a skateboard area, but mostly just lots of open grass area. Nice shady trees around the perimeter with walkways.
One of the best spots to take photos of the city. Came at night to enjoy the views prob my favourite view of the whole city.
