Union Post

This pub provides a good Sunday roast with one of the biggest Yorkshire Puddings I have ever seen. Such a big Yorkie needed a lot of gravy, and my one fault here was there was not enough. Plenty of meat and roast veggies, however the price was high for a pub meal, and this was reflected by the few customers. For two of us with a drink each the price was just under $100, which it's high for a pub lunch. By comparison we had a very similar Sunday Roast at Gastropub in Greenlane and paid just under $75 for two, and the food was equal quality. It was also fairly cold in this pub, a fire place was present but not lit, and could have added nicely to the ambience and warmth level. I hope this pub reflects and gets its pricing right to attract more customers, as it is a nice place with lovely staff and Ellerslie is a great suburb to explore and have a Sunday lunch at.

We had a company party there.nDecent food and atmosphere.nEspecially loved the seasonal drink- which was Mulled Wine. It was just the way I like it.

We went to the Union Post for a very nice atmosphere and location.nnMe and my two boys all ordered the Sunday roast chicken, and the chicken was the most driest, I never knew you could make chicken so dry! And it had an awful taste like old overcooked chicken. Lucky for the Chinese takeaway next door as we were still hungry so grabbed a piece of snapper each. It turned into an incredibly expensive dinner!nnUsually I give 5 stars for this place but they had a shocker in the kitchen last night!

Had our Xmas lunch there. Food & service was excellent.nExpress lunch was great value.nDessert was another level, the Spiced Crème Brûlée was exceptional. Came with 2 spoons, could have shared, but didn't.

Had an excellent meal at Union Post last night – the food was really good. Unfortunately, the service and experience let it down.nnWe ordered pizza and were offered a second one free as part of the night’s deal. However, it was never mentioned that the second pizza had to be eaten on the premises. When we asked for a doggy bag to take the leftovers home, we were told we couldn’t because of the two-for-one deal. Instead of being able to enjoy it the next day, we were told the pizza would be thrown away – which felt wasteful and customer-unfriendly.nnService was clearly understaffed. I had to go up to the bar to order more drinks, and when our table became cluttered, I moved some empty plates and glasses to another unused table. A staff member acted like THE MATRON then came over and told me not to do this as it was “inconveniencing her,” which didn’t sit well.nnOverall, the food itself was great, but the service and rigid policies really affected the experience. A bit more flexibility and customer care would go a long way in encouraging people to returnnnWe did place the pizza in a normal takeaway box and was told by THE MATRON not to do this again. Weird service.nnWe also didn't receive our 10% discount as we stayed at the La Quinta in Ellerslie and I did mention this to the server when we placed their initial beverage order
