Touchwood Motor Inn

This is for the campervans, not the cabins.nnWe booked and paid online but when we arrived, there was no staff there. Apparently check in was before 7:30, but the site we booked on didn’t say that, neither did their FAQ. On the door it said “checking in late? No problem. Call…” couldn’t call since we had no NZ phone number and phone booth on site didn’t work with intl credit cards. Finally we borrowed a phone and the worker told us to go to a spot. Too bad he had told another woman who arrived at the same time to go to that same spot. When she called the worker, he was mad and said he was far away and we all should have been there on time. We ended up squeezing vehicles in and sharing the spot, and later we heard other guys saying they had the same problem that night.nnAll in all, it was fine to just sleep there. Showers were a bit dirty, but free. Location was good. But owners should have spots reserved and know who is staying where so overbooking doesn’t happen. Not sure if it was overbooked accidentally or purposefully, but it definitely made arrival a hassle.

Health Alert!!nnThe worst experience of accommodation I've got as far. It relatived tontheir mouldy units! It caused me keep dry caughing over 1 week and made my voice hoarse. Unfortunately, I haven't got back to normal yet even now.nn2 weeks before, I checked into unit 4, I saw all the windows opened but I still smelled a musty smell. I was hoping it would be better after ventilate. But definitely not!nnI started coughing in the second half of the night and couldn't go back to sleep until I was very tired. Next night, it's getting worse to me, I coughed all night although I sleeped in the living room .nnI can't ignore my intense physical reaction.nJust before I left the unit, I figured out those mould have been covered by white painting above mouldy wall papers.nnMouldy spores are invisible, you breath them into your lungs and get infected.That's it causing me feel so bad.nnI did tell them what I was suffering when I checked out. They had no response and no apology either.nnSuch good position, but harmful conditions of those units. They can't leave them on booking before they eliminate mould!nnAnyway, your lungs can't be filters to those mould spores! You can' t be cheated by them to take the risk of your health.

Were there with a camper, campsite was expensive and sites barely fit the camper, no room to sit outside. Several locals living on the campsite. Location was quite central and reasonably close to airport, but site is expensive. Facilities were clean

Speaking to the campervan side of Touchwood, we had an excellent experience. Staff were friendly and accommodating right throughout our stay. The camper park side wasn’t crowded, even though it was between Christmas and NYE.nnThe camp kitchen, toilets, showers and laundry facilities were more than expected. Clearly an older establishment, but with thoughtful, clean, modern refurbishments, including a hair dryer for the ladies Management has made the place very comfortable and great value.nnGetting in and out of the city was easy. The 75 bus stop is only a short walk away, as is a 4 Square convenience store and some good coffee shops. Though the 4 Square coffee was pretty good also :nnHighly recommended this establishment to any travellers looking for a quiet, convenient place to stay, just outside of the city limits. 25 minutes on the bus to city centre.nnOur only suggestion would be that they investigate a solution for the flies in and around the amenities. Perhaps some fly tape would help.

A wonderfully placed camp in Remuera. Camp in good order and clearly gradual upgrading in progress. Facilities very clean and friendly staff worked hard daily to keep toilet & shower blocks as clean as possible. Pool a huge plus in the hot summer weather. Our 1 week stay couldn't have been better. Thank you.
