We tried their dinner, and overall, the food was quite average. The Peking duck wasn't particularly impressive—the meat wasn't tender enough, and the skin could have been crispier and thinner. However, salt and pepper duck bones were pretty good, full of flavours. The tofu dish was decent as well. The chicken and pork stomach soup with Chinese yam had a nice touch, though the pork stomach wasn't cleaned thoroughly. In general, the prices are on the higher side, but the taste of the dishes didn’t quite justify the cost. Perhaps the main advantage lies in the pleasant dining environment.
PINEAPPLE BUN & RED RICE ROLL & HAR GOW - Recommended dishes here.nnThere are some heavy hitters in terms of dimsum here and they look handmade with the generous size and flavours they deliver.nnHowever, the Sunmade secret recipe bbq pork was a huge let down. Costing $22 and as there were photos of this dish, decided to try it. Unfortunately the presentation was poor. It looked they they had microwaved the pork on the dish and you could see the splatter of the sauce + oil all over the dish.nnHowever the rest of the dishes were so good I would happily go back again. It may depend on what dish you order.nnOverall clean open and big dining area. Staff were friendly and efficient.
The entire two story building belongs to this restaurant, and there were plenty of on-site parking. I highly suggest you go as soon as it opens because when I came out at noon there were queues lined up outside the building.nnThe food came out almost instantly and it all tasted delicious and the overall vibe of the restaurant was very clean.
Sum Made is hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve experienced in Auckland. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The interior is elegant yet inviting — perfect for both casual lunches and special occasions.nnThe food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Cantonese flavour. The dim sum was delicate and fresh, the seafood cooked to perfection, and the Durian Chicken Hot Pot was a bold, unforgettable highlight. You can really taste the quality in every bite.nnWhat truly sets Sum Made apart is their attention to detail and impeccable service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and happy to recommend dishes that matched our tastes. You can tell this place is run with heart.nnA true gem in Auckland’s North Shore — I’ll definitely be coming back and bringing more friends next time!
Trendy spot with decent service. Black char siu? Juicy win. Sweet & sour pork? Fat party. Scallion-ginger lobster? Totally my jam. Oysters—fun-size but fresh. Fried rice came with that wok hei swagger. Quail? Hard pass.
