Another Italian restaurant in Auckland that you must try. The food was exceptional and the service was excellent, with waiters and waitresses regularly replenishing our waters and cocktails without having to ask. The portions were substantial, and the ingredients were of great quality and nicely presented. Highly recommended!
The spaghetti and rib-eye steak are really delicious. Taste so good and the service is also very nice. Tiramisu is amazing that we order an additional one after tasting. Very recommend to have a dinner and enjoy the atmosphere here, drink with friends. Won't be disappointed Food: 4/5
2nd visit to SPQR and it was just as delicious as the first time. Service is good and the menu has something for everyone. Don't skip dessert either, the sticky date pudding was amazing.
No, No, No. The place is very nice with great vibe and cute bartenders, and the flavours were amazing - So why not? the portions where tiny , especially if you consider the price. This does not work for me. A main dish with half a chicken breast and one broccolini... starter with 3 miniature scallops...sorry , but no. If you have too much money to spend and not particularly hungry, then it's a grate place for you. I will say that they had one of the best Tiramisu I've ever had :
Everything we ordered tasted great, but the highlight goes to the scampi linguine and tiramisu! Also liked how the focaccia came with multiple sauces and eye fillet carpaccio was topped with truffle oil. Can't forget the great service too! And don't forget a torch if you struggle with seeing in low light...
SPQR never disappoints, love the cocktails! Usually have one of the pastas which are so good but chose pizza this time, delish and the Tiramasu is devine and you get a decent huge serving!!
The staff at the this restaurant are so friendly, the food is so delicious! Might not be the cheapest restaurant, but you get what you pay for.
I know SPQR is one of Auckland’s OG fine dining hot spots. It took me ten years to finally hit them up since so many new restaurants pop up on a regular basis .. I have to say, it’s not up to the standard I expected but was still pretty good overall. The ambiance is really nice, and the service was excellent. But I had mixed standards with the food overall. The bread was nice as a starter but the calamari came out lukewarm, lacking flavour and some pieces a bit chewy. Calamari is a dish that really sings when done well, but you really can’t hide when it’s done bad. This really didn’t hit the mark. I ordered my steak rare and it came out exactly that, perfectly cooked. However, the steak had zero seasoning .. again, lacking in flavour. Loved the dessert, though. Sticky date pudding.. so good. All in all, it was decent. I get why it was once a top spot but I think the Auckland food scene has matured a lot in recent years and I’d probably not rush back.
Can't say a bad thing about this place. The food is Devine, the service is next level and the overall place is so nice for a fancy dinner out!Food: 5/5
