Special mention cafe

Overall I enjoyed my meal here. The croffle was interesting and I don’t know if it was filling or if it was me that day, but I couldn’t even finish it all! The iced latte was nice although I forgot to get sugar to try to make it sweeter as it was a bit too bitter for me.nnReally friendly staff and a nice location.

Special Mention came highly recommended and I was enthusiastic to try.nI’d done my due diligence and already scoured the menu prior. Pretty much everything on it sounded delicious.nWe’d been told we could take the dog as there’s an outside area. Whilst this sounds like a fun and wholesome idea it would be fraught with anxiety. What if there were no tables outside? What if there were other dogs and our’s inner sexual deviancy kicked in? No, not worth the risk.nI ordered “Scram and Ham” which spoke to me; but bizarrely I managed to completely skip over the fact it was a sandwich! The mix of the flavours were incredible, so nice. Mustard, pickles, cheese, chilli jam - this was like a party in my mouth. The Favourite Husband was bemused as there’s no “big breakkie” per se so he kind of had to build his own. He found this irritating as he thinks it’s just a way to make money as each “extra” is exorbitantly expensive. But he had all my bread to fill in the gaps and came away full if a little poorer.nPersonally I thought the food was good, there’s enough on the menu to draw me back. Some low carb options would be great. And some sound proofing. The acoustics are shocking. Lovely staff and I thought it was good value. Stuff the Favourite Husband - cheapskate.

I’m not really a person who leaves reviews but this place exceeded my expectations. Such a good balance to the flavours in the food, coffee was the best I’ve had in NZ so far and such a nice chill little vibe!

I visited this place again. The crews are always kind and provided a great service . Enjoyed the treats with a coffee. Will definitely visit this place again.
