We loved our tour with Justin! We went during the off-season and did not know to confirm our tour ahead of time but Justin made an exception and brought my husband and I out on a private kayak tour to the hot pools! The views of rotorua were STUNNING and Justin was a phenomenal guide. He told us so much about the Māori culture through interesting stories about the history of Rotorua. We also enjoyed the hot pools - it was perfect on a cold day and after kayaking! Justin even brought us on a short tour to a cave nearby to spot some glow worms. It was truly the best morning and we would highly recommend River Rats to anyone visiting Rotorua interested in either kayaking or rafting or both!!

My favorite thing I did in Rotorua. A truly special evening. It was very cloudy and windy the day I did it and I was called well in advance with a warning that it would be a tougher kayaking journey across the lake. I am not in amazing shape but decided to go anyway. It was definitely a work out but doable. And once u get to the hot pools, it feels so worth it. We got to spend ample time soaking and it was magical. Our dinner was fantastic, and the final kayaking trip to the glow worms was amazing. The clouds opened up enough to get a lovely sunset and kayak under the stars. The cave was so cool to see! Lots of glow worms! We were told Maori stories on the trip back and while my arms were sore the next day I will likely do this every time I'm in Rotorua. So much fun.

If you're looking for a wet and wild adventure with a side of laughter, River Rats Raft Co is the place to be! My husband and I had a blast on our rafting trip, and the memories we made will last a lifetime. The guides were absolute legends, providing just the right mix of excitement and humor. The rapids were thrilling, and the scenery was stunning. The large waterfall was the perfect way to cap the experience, giving us an unforgettable adrenaline rush. We'd return in a heartbeat and highly recommend this experience for anyone seeking a fun and memorable adventure in Rotorua!

This is a really unique experience! The scenery along the river is vibrant green and has an almost tropical look to it even when rafting in the colder months. The beauty of the area is awesome. In addition to that, I would describe this river as different than others I've rafted before - it has lots of water, and very few rocks. Splashy fun! It's also a fairly quick trip. I can tell that the owner/guides are passionate about what they do, and enjoy sharing the experience with others. I was nervous about being cold, as we went in September. When first getting soaked the water felt cold. But then the wetsuit did it's job and I was comfortable after only a few minutes. This was a very memorable part of our New Zealand trip. And I'm so glad I did it. If this looks like fun, go for it!

We rafted the Kaituna River and Tutea Falls with Nev and Justin. We ended up rafting a day earlier than planned as the water levels on our original date were not ideal. They accommodated our small group and we were so glad for the opportunity. Safety is a top priority and we felt we were in really good hands. We had a really great trip and will continue to book with River Rats in the future.
