Redoubt Bar & Eatery

Chose Redoubt as it had an extensive menu with options for our diverse group. We came in late, after a 5:00 tour of Hobbiton, so were grateful for a space that served later in the day. As luck would have it, 3 of our party of 6 opted for the daily special only to find out as we ordered, they ran out. But our waitress was good enough to check and discovered they could fill the order. Food was good. Staff was great. Looks like a place where the locals enjoy gathering, so that always speaks volumes.

Filled us up, but wasn't particularly good or interesting. Their famous sticky chicken was perfectly average. Their pizzas were pretty dull. But they were open, so I'm greatful for that at least. Oh and they don't seem to answer their phones, even when they're not busy. Kinda odd.

Every local and Google recommended Redoubt for a decent meal. So we decided to give it a go. The food was great good serving size and service was nice and efficient. Recommended.

For me personally, I used to come here a lot so was minorly disappointed. We didn't order anything heavy and watched another table get their meal before us, they came in after us. The staff were weirdly standing in the way, hovering, I think they would have been better off doing this behind the bar. They were looking at tables, doing their job but it was right next to our table and I didn't like it. The walls are like a junk yard and it's looked the same for too long. I won't be going back in a rush. My prawn salad and cheesy flat bread were nice though!
