We called in here for a beer and lunch, lovely friendly welcome, asked how our day was going, which was nice.nGreat tidy, clean, well presented bar and dining room.nAlso has an outside area to eat or smoke under umbrellas.nToilets are beautiful and clean and well situated for wheelchair access.nWe ordered shoes string fries, which were so yummy!nThey were happy to support a takeaway container for us to take remaining fries with us.nGreat gaming room.nWe have been here afew times and it never fails to please us with their wonderful staff and beautifully cooked meals.nHighly recommend this place.
We had a family luncheon there on 28th April. The staff were very attentive and efficient. We all enjoyed our food. Hot and well presented. The decor is a bit dark and tired but if it was lightened up a bit the ambience would improve. We will be back.

Stayed one night at this gorgeous little pub in Matamata. The room was basic but very comfortable and clean and included Wi-Fi. I had a steak meal downstairs which was delicious and affordable, and I couldn’t fault the service of the staff. They were wonderful. Great location, walking distance to everything in town. Great stay if you’re on a budget. it also had a communal kitchen and laundry if you wanted to cook for yourself. I would definitely stay again. About a 15 minute drive to the Hobbiton movie set.
In need of accommodation at short notice. Rocked up to the Horse and Jockey Inn, where the very friendly and helpful staff checked me in quickly.nRoom was very comfortable and high quality for the price. No air-conditioning.nnShared bathroom facilities are the reason for 4 stars, but the facilities were very clean and there were no other guests so I had the place to myself.nnAlthough I stayed on a Saturday night, and the bar/club was banging until late, the noise didn't come through to the upstairs accommodation.nnVery comfy and rejuvenating night's sleep. Thank you!
