Merchant of Matamata

Very clean toliets, customer service all friendly, not like places they have 1 person is awesome. All of them were. The food is delicious with good prices. We also met a beautiful couple of their anniversary, who moved back in Nz and settled on Matamata.

The food here was way below my expectations, the fried chicken was dry and tasted stale and the dessert was incredibly rich, not in a good way. The thing on the top to the brownie felt so incredibly unnecessary and it was so small of how much you pay for it. The great thing about this place was definitely the atmosphere, it was lively and very enjoyable. You could feel the warmth of the place and the staff are truly amazing and understanding. I would highly recommend this place for the atmosphere, bar and if you’re just looking for a good time, hard pass on the food.

Pretty nice place. Food is good quality. Staff were attentive, as everything, food and drinks are getting spendy, even $14 for a cider still feels steep, but I understand why it’s like that.

Service was very helpful and so friendly. The vibe was amazing. Great outdoor setting. Only had the fries but they are honestly amazing I bet the food would be great great Good George pilsner get in while its cold

Pork hock and deserts delicious but steak meal was below par as was undeseasoned and low quality steak. Asked for fries to be swapped out for extra season veg and was surprised at very small amount received as a trade out.
