Came for their famous injectable donuts. The presentation was beautiful but honestly I was disappointed just because they were so hyped. They're just donuts with a filling really, I'm a fan of the interesting flavors available-I got the rose water one, and well, it tasted like roses! I'm definitely not a fan of that flowery taste, but it is a flavor that lives up to the name I won't fault them for that. It's just that the doughnut itself wasn't anything too special at all, it didn't melt in the mouth and it was a bit doughy-something I didn't expect from a cafe that looks so fancy. The cream is also just cream, so it was a meh experience for me. Heard that they’re coding though, but sad to say goodbye to a dunedin icon.
Breakfast was lovely. The eggs were very small, although the pic doesn't reflect that well. Parking was convenient. And the service was very good. I'd give a 4.5 star if it had that option.
A friend introduced me to this fine café, which is adjacent to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. On arrival we ordered coffees and delectable donuts, which one can inject with a filling of their choice. Lingering in the pleasant ambience, we later ordered lunch, which included a very tasty and lofty hamburger. A great café experience.Food: 5/5
It was a cozy place and great food for brunch time. Excellent services and good price. I'll be back to try other menus.
My family and I went here after a trip to the art gallery and it was lovely. We got the small fries pictured below and pear and Berry slice if I remember correctly. In terms of gluten free options in the cabinet they had brownies and one other slice, plus the fries were gluten free. Fries were perfectly crunchy and my dad enjoyed the slice. Always a pleasure to go here
Excellent entrees and desserts here. Desserts are the best, containing both classics and creative dishes. I can't justify paying the full price for the mains, as they are underwhelming and somewhat boring. Food and drinks came out very quickly, even though the restaurant was full before a show at the Regent Theatre. Water refills were somewhat slow though. Ideal location in the Octagon
Never wrote a comment before and give my first one to this restaurant for my unforgettable experience. Once we entered the restaurant the manager guy was on the phone and didn't even give a gesture or look to greet the guest. In the cone I found a hair-like filament firmly stuck in the chocolate chip. The manager simply asked if we had finished eating and if we wanted a cup of coffee, not giving a reasonable and sincere solution like most restaurants. At checkout he gave me a discount with a relaxed tone and a calm demeanor. Usually I don't like to cause trouble, so I chose to be silent. He explained that the filament in the food could be the bristles on the tool or something which sounds like saying: not dirty at all, don't think about it Maybe I was overthinking it, but based on my previous customer service experience, This is not the way people in the industry should do. In contrast, the attitude of the new lady who served us that night was more professional than he was.
Always my go to cafe. Beautiful kai Update: 1st back to Nova Cafe in a long time and still up there in my top 5 in Dunedin. Food and coffee still , i had the Nova Bagel special breakfast with beetroot jam, greens, bacon, half an avocado, egg on a bagel bun. Sooooo goood!!
Really liked it here. So good went went back for breakfast during our shirt stay in Dunedin. Great service and superb coffee. I recommend the French toast.Food: 5/5
Really disappointing, tiniest eggs Benedict, and driest burger which was well done when it was meant to be medium. Iced chocolate and donut was good but paid $80 for a burger that was so dry it actually crumbled.
