Love this place. We went for a Mum and Daughter date and pancakes. Food was delicious, coffee is always good, the giant squiggle tops are amazing, the loaded wedges are the perfect comfort food. My only problem was I couldn't eat it all. I tried though. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu is just fantastic. And they put sprinkles on the hot chocolate.
The foid was huge disappointment as I had very high expectations based on the reviews. I love pancake especially chocolate but this one wasn't good.Food: 3/5
I've been a fan of Govs for a very long time. On my last visit I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a salmon bagel. There was a serious lack of salmon in it. It looked like half a slice along with cream cheese and a few baby spinach leaves. This was topped with a slice of lemon complete with rind. The menu has less items on it but has retained the favourites. There wasn't as much selection in the smaller cabinet. It's nice to see that there has been some modernisation of the interior, but don't make Governors become like every other cafe on the block. The best part of my recent visit was the service, it was excellent. Nice friendly chap who was full of energy
Based on recommendations we thought we’d try out Govs cafe in the weekend for breakfast. We both had the berry pancakes. Unfortunately the pancakes were very dry and didn’t taste very good at all. We were left feeling very disappointed and would not recommend the pancakes. The coffee was nice though so that was at least one positive.
What a great place to have breakfast! My husband and I have been having breakfast every Sunday morning while our daughter practices singing for church. Great food! Great service! Lovely location!Food: 5/5
Great vibe, love this cafe when we visit Dunedin, the staff are friendly, the food is always fresh and the coffee is a kick starter brewed right. Thanks again, the prices are absolutely reasonable. We specially visit for a bowl of porridge.Food: 5/5
