Loved our stay here. Nice and central to the walkways. Room service was professional and friendly. Access from the car park is nice and easy with entrance straight to the foyer. Nice spacious rooms and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Be early to get a car park. Will happily come and stay again. Many Thanks.
This is not a luxury hotel. They advertise a pool which they do not own and you have to drive five minutes to get to it. The rooms are very dated and the ocean view room has the tiniest sliver of an ocean view. We paid quite a lot to have laundry done and were told it would take two hours and be put in our room for our return. It took about five hours and they had no idea when it would be done when we asked where it was. Then they hurriedly got it done, folded some of it and threw the rest in the bag. Some of it was still wet. Then they called us and made us come back down and get it after we had just finally checked in to the room. We’re not picky people but this is just bad customer service. One of the people at the front desk was particularly unpleasant and unhelpful. The other two front desk people we encountered were delightful, so it’s really too bad everyone isn’t on the same page. What’s crazy is that they were only half booked as well and not very busy.
Of all the places we had stayed in New Zealand, this was my favorite! The rate was about $100 US dollars due to the tourist season being almost over.nnThe room was clean and the bathroom was great! It had a shower and a bathtub.nnMatthew at Salt was so pleasant; he’s originally from New Hampshire, USA. I loved the bay view while eating breakfast.nnThe only complaint I had, or if you would call it that, of all the places we had stayed is that when we entered our room we were presented with drinks and snacks on the counter and fridge……if consumed, would be given a charge on you credit card.nnHighly recommend this and would stay here again.
The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom had the best lighting I've seen in a long time at a hotel. The restaurant had an excellent view of the waterfront. The food was excellent, but small portions and on the expensive side. The desk clerks were very friendly and efficient.nThe bathroom sink was discolored, which made it look unclean. The cleaning staff was simply not on their game. We had asked for additional wash cloths, but they were inconsistent in meeting this request. The sheets were not tucked in as one would expect. They did not replace the tissue box for the last two nights of our week stay. These were minor disappointments, but notable.
I stayed at the Millennium Hotel in New Plymouth last January 2025, and it’s taken me a while to sit down and write this review, mostly because the experience was disappointing enough that it stuck with me. Unfortunately, this was not a stay I would choose to repeat.nnFrom the start, communication with staff was poor. At check-in, I ran into an issue with breakfast that should have been simple to resolve. I had booked online and selected a rate that included breakfast, and I showed the front desk agent the confirmation paperwork. Despite this, I was told I would need to pay for breakfast again. The interaction felt dismissive rather than helpful, and instead of trying to clarify or assist, the situation was left unresolved. At that point, I just returned to my room.nnThe room itself felt dated and in need of a significant refresh. The television wasn’t working properly, and the lights flickered for quite a while before finally stabilizing, which didn’t inspire much confidence in the overall condition of the space. The room was usable, but it certainly didn’t meet the expectations I have for a hotel at this level.nnParking was another challenge. There was very limited on-site parking, even though we arrived relatively early. I was lucky to secure a spot close to the hotel. I was informed that the only alternative parking area nearby was prone to break-ins, which was concerning and added unnecessary stress.nnOverall, this property feels overdue for a major renovation, along with improved staff communication and customer service training. I don’t anticipate staying here again unless there are significant updates made to both the facilities and the guest experience.
