What a fantastic meal!! Simply the most delicious, moist roast pork - full of flavour and banging crackling!! Lashings of gravy & apple sauce… could it get better? Nice & clean with excellent, polite service. It was really busy, yet service was really quick and friendly even when they were under the pump! Finished with a selection of desserts - ate way too much…but just so good.. Will be back… Parking: Some parking at the rear as well as on Dominion Rd or side streets
Great roast that I can't reccomend enough. Amazing crunchy potatoes, beautiful juicy pork and crackling that was out of the world good. I had a pork roll which was excellent and just what I was after. Obviously have pros on the kitchen as the gravy and apple sauce was just right adding great flavor without soaking the bun. My partner had a roast dinner and it was her first roast in her life. She loved it!! Can't wait to go back to this beautiful local gem!
Pretty good! It tastes like an actual home cooked meal! I had the mashed potatoes with this and they were possibly the best mashed potatoes I’ve had from a non restaurant venue. Everything was just cooked so well! I’ll probably come back here when I’m craving a good roast! When I see my people in there waiting in line… it’s an indication for me that it’s a good place to eat
I have been a loyal customer for many many years. I have a loyalty card, with every 10 meals purchased,you get 1 small meal free. Which means if you spend at least $200, you get a $10 meal free. I moved away and haven't been able to go recently. I went tonight to buy 2 meals, which will fill up my card, and I can get a free small meal. My card already has 18 purchased meals on it. The owner refused to honour this voucher. Apparently they are new owners since the past 3 months, and they are refusing to honour the previous owner's loyalty cards. Really?! They are choosing to lose a loyal and regular customer, instead of honouring a free $10 meal? She offered free crackling. That's about $2, which means she is prepared to lose a good customer, who consistently spends over $200, over $8. Pathetic really! I won't ever spend a cent in that place again.
This Roast dinner restaurant is an established dining eatery experience with a solid history of 20 years plus & is my favourite splice of Kiwiana classic fare cuisine. I ordered the large roast beef dinner with vegetables & option roast battered potatoes or mashed with brown onion gravy, it was more than I expected & so scrumptious. The menu features delicious takeaway staples European with a Chinese flair & flavours. There is a limited selection of coffees & hot chocolate & a sweet apple crumble & custard dessert & generic sweet soda beverages. The new proprietors are the 3rd owners & have refined the menu with Kiwi flair. The client service is timid but they're finding their niche & honouring the restaurant brand. I'm guessing the name pays homage to the previous owner's cultural history. Ergo 3 stars rating.
The man who usually runs the place wasn't there. Appeared as though staff on duty were inexperienced. Meat lamb not as nice as previous times. Got far to much fat in my meal. The meat is added by weight and disappointing that so much fat was included. Asked for mint sauce but there was so little of it included. No kumara as in the past. Potatoes not as crispy. Won't go there again.
They just changed the owner 4 months ago. The food is really nice and the orice is reasonable. Apple crumble is a must try!Food: 5/5
Clean. Great service. Easy access. Best of all a great traditional roast at very reasonable price. Cant go past the pork roast Food: 5/5
