Very pretty spot in Akaroa and also the point of departure for marine excursions and notably Akaroa Dolphins. There are a number of restaurants and shops nearby is a main hub for the town.
Very good - this is the main point of departure for the various marine excursions and Akaroa Dolphin trips. There are a number of cafes etc nearby, in the township
a truly glorious and serene spot. we were there after lunch and not many people out there at all. enjoyed the calm of being able to take in the gentle ripples on the water and the accompanying sounds of birds.
It is obviously one of main tourist destinations in Akaroa, so expect to see a lot of people in this area. However, I would say visiting Akaroa is incomplete without a quick tour to this place. The scenery is very beautiful, and the vibe is great. It was really a hot day when I visited as it is mid summer, but sometime in the spring or autumn could be better I guess. Akaroa Wharf south pontoon. Easy and straight forward approach from the anchorage. Two places available. One outer pontoon safest to be used by Cruise ship tenders. Anchorage to wharf 15 min tender drive. Pleasant town with relaxing views and walkways. Wheelchair friendly. All in all nice place to visit.
