A really fun and educational experience. Easy parking on site and its right next to the airport. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. The 4D ride and Antarctic Storm simulation were great but the highlights were the penguins and huskies. Make sure you take time to read and check out the exhibits as you go around and you'll learn so much about this fascinating yet fragile landscape. A definite highlight of a long weekend in Christchurch!
We really enjoyed our time at the International Antarctic Centre.nThere is ample parking on site, and the entry cost isn’t too steep.nThe 4D cinema is awesome and well worth a go. The arctic storm experience was my favourite experience on offer. We didn’t have time to go on the snow Mobil’s but they looked awesome.nThe huskies were really cute and being able to stroke them was a great experience.
I loved this place and was one of the few highlights of the trip! We watched rescued penguins being fed. Then we experienced the storm room - TWICE! For someone who loves the snow and cold, the storm room was super cool! The Hagglunds field trip, an outdoor adventure course designed to give a taste of the challenges of driving across, through, and over the icy continent of Antarctica, is another must-do at the centre. You also get to pet some adorable huskies! This place is absolutely worth a visit!
EXCELLENT experience! This is a MUST DO activity when visiting Christchurch and I’m so glad we got to go. I will definitely be returning next time I visit CHCH. The front desk staff are friendly, the crew who are wandering around near the penguins are also extremely nice and were willing to speak to anyone about the penguins which made the experience a lot more better. The penguin feeding at 10:30 was amazing. I’d recommend going early if you’re visiting on a weekend. Lastly, the hagglund ride was fun but I had motion sickness the entire time and just wanted to get off HAHAHA but it was still really cool. Just be warned that if you have a sensitive stomach, this ride may not be for you
It was a great experience. However, I wish the entrance fee should be cheaper to lower the barriers for more people to learn more about antarctic.
