My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at LyLo during our first week in New Zealand. We stayed in the mixed dorm pod room and overall had a great experience. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and the rooms were generally very clean.nnThe only downside was that the room and pods can get quite hot. There is an oscillating fan in the room, but unfortunately the fan in my boyfriend’s pod was not working.nnMiss Lucy's is a restaurant/bar attached to LyLo.The food and coffee is so good! The pictures I have attached are just a few of the tasty food items they have at Miss Lucy's. It's definitely worth it to stop by and check out!nnWe are also in New Zealand on a working holiday visa through SWAP, and the program has been incredibly helpful in getting us settled. I can’t say enough great things about Clark and Ashley. They truly went above and beyond, and we are very grateful for the warm and welcoming environment they created. They were extremely knowledgeable about New Zealand culture, the city, and helped guide us through getting everything set up for the year.nnIf you have the chancce to work with them, you’re in great hands!
Fantastic stay at LyLo. Matthew at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind with check in. LyLo is about 5 minutes walk from the sky tower, 10 minutes walk from the viaduct. Easy to walk around from there.nnThere are a mix of shared rooms & shared bathroom as well as private rooms with or without private bathroom. I booked a queen room be sure to request for a window in the room since not all have it. The room itself was very clean when I arrived.nnLobby area is very warm and welcoming with guides to help plan excursions. There is also a restaurant that serves coffee and alcohol in the lobby.nnInterestingly, there is also a barbershop you can reserve for a nice hair haircut!nn10/10 would recommend!
Booked a private room Double bed with a shared bathroom for 2 nights but spent a night and some hours here.nnI've stayed at many hostels all over the world and this one is modern and overall quite nice. Not sure if they offer anything to foster social interaction though.nnThere's a ladies restroom with showers and a handicap-accessible restroom with a shower on the same floor of my room around the corner.nnIt was quiet at night. The room is ok for 1 person, but here are the cons:nn- There was no TVn- There were 3 outletsn- No thermostat or way to adjust the temperature if you needed to.n- There's no window.n- There's no table or big wall shelving to put additional items if you were staying multiple days or just wanted to space out your belongings in a neat fashion.n- One hook was missing from the wall to hang an additional itemnnThere was a vertical mirror and a chair in the room.nnThe fridge in the lobby was way too full. The kitchen should be bigger with the amount of guests I saw.nnThey have a laundromat on-site but you need to get a token from the front desk and the price is higher than the standard price across NZ. It's $5 to wash, $5 to dry.nnIt's nice that the hostel comes with a restaurant and serves breakfast and lunch items. The area does have many restaurants within walking distance.nnI could only stay here again if they have a private room with a window or just needed a quick 1 night.
Great Location & Perfect for a Short StaynnThe location is excellent. From the airport, you can take the bus to the main station, and it’s only about a 6-minute walk to the hotel. Very convenient.nnThe hotel is clean, well-organized, and lively. It’s especially ideal for travelers staying just one night before continuing their journey.nnThe location is a big plus — you’re right in the city center. The harbor is within walking distance, or you can easily use a scooter.nnThe staff are friendly and welcoming, and the shared kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to make coffee or prepare a simple meal.nnA couple of things to note: towels are not included you need to bring your own or pay NZD 5, and there is no shampoo or body wash provided in the showers.nnOverall, a very good option for a short and convenient stay.
We enjoyed our time at Lylo Auckland. Facilities were clean and had everything we needed, solid amenities, nice to have a restaurant on site as well. Our room was a private double, which was interior no windows, incredibly small, very dark, and shared a bathroom. But fits the hostel vibe well!
