The kitchen and bathrooms were cleaned fairly regularly. The rooms although small still had enough storage for luggage. I really liked the curtains for the beds, it made things feel less hostel-like.nThe game room was often empty, guess that could be a positive or a negative depending on what you want.nOverall I would stay again.
I had a great experience at this hostel. The location is great. Close to many interesting restaurants and bars. Rooms are very comfortable and well-designed. Every bed has a curtain that gives you privacy. Individual light and power for charging devices are very good details. Bathrooms quite clean. I'd just add a little bit of oil to the door hinges as it gets a bit noisy. The rest is super comfortable.
The only good things: comfy bed, big kitchen, relatively close to downtown.nnThe 6 bed dorm is incredibly small, with luggage in the room you have to walk sideways to get to the lockers.nNot enough showers per floor.nNot enough space to hang out in the common areas, there are two couches in total.nAll doors are extremly squeaky.nNothing in the bathrooms to put your things on, you have to put them on the floor. I saw cleaning staff, yet the bathrooms were never clean - always hair and water on the floor.nHalf the rooms face to the front of the building, so you‘ll hear people talking in front of the entrance and their smoke gets into your room.nFor the price you pay, not worth it at all.nOverall, I would not come back here.
I had 4 amazing weeks here. The Haka House team is super friendly and nice. The location of the hostel is also amazing.nThe dorm rooms are clean and the beds have curtains which is pretty cool. The bathrooms and showers are always clean and tidied up. They also have a big kitchen which lots of storage cupboards for your food. I really enjoyed the community room in the basement. I often played a couple of rounds of pool with my friends. Over all it was the best hostel experience I've ever had in my life. If you are looking for a hostel in Auckland I would definitely recommend you the Haka House. I had the best time here.
The staff were super friendly and the kitchen was well accommodated. however the rooms itself were very small. I stayed in a 6 bed and there was hardly any space to move/ store luggage. it was super noisy at night since it’s right next to a club. It was also really hot since it was so small and we had to leave the window open 24/7, meaning there was more noise from outside. The bathrooms/ showers were always busy and not regularly cleaned. There were no mirrors in the shower rooms, bins in rooms were overflowing 24/7 and not emptied for days. And almost every time I used the bathroom there was no toilet roll
