Story

We offer a relaxed spot to get away from the pressures of Auckland. Chill out on the many decks, take a dip in our unique rock pool or just wash away your cares under the stars in our spa.

Wander down our bush tracks to the beach for a moonlight dip or to the shop just 5 mins away. Walk to town, just 15mins away and visit the many restaurants, cafes or lounges plus many art studios. Waiheke - so close but so far removed from the hustle and bustle of Auckland.

Beautiful hostel with nice people and a great athmosphere. Just be prepared for parties almost every night ; they have a beautiful garden and a pool. Close to the bus stop. The only thing they could do better is to write on the website that there is no laundry available.Rooms: 4/5
The best place to stay in Waiheke! Really comfortable, facilities and shared spaces are always clean & tidy thanks to their fantastic woofers. Very nice people from all over the world to share a talk or a glass of wine if you want. And if you want to relax, there is a hot tube to be used and if you need to rest, rooms are very quiet and comfortable. Best PIZZAS in the island!! Will miss pizza nights. 100% recommended!
I found this place quite loud and cold. Not my idea of a peaceful island retreat. If you want a young party hostel, this is the place to go. At 36, I felt too old to be here. Sound carries horribly into the upstairs private rooms. I feel there is no privacy or escape from the noise. You’re either a part of the party or you better have good earplugs. No heat in room, no extra blankets. Office closes at 6pm. Not terribly impressed with this place. Wouldn’t book again or recommend.
We had an excellent time here for the weekend. Very enjoyable short walk with amazing views too local shops. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Other guests were friendly to talk too. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. Pool and spa pool had a relaxing feel too them. So nice too cool down unwind and relax surrounded by beautiful nz bush. Beaches were breath taking. Well recommend to stay here on a budget!!! We will definitely go back there again.
Home away from home! Stayed here for a few days and really enjoyed it. It felt like a home away from home! I had a private room which was really clean and tidy. The livingroom was really cozy with a nice fire place and super comfortable couches! Outside there is an enormous table so there is also plenty of space to socialize! Which this hostel is perfect for! It is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in!
Cool hostel in a nice building and area :. Great outdoor deck, pool and hot tub that would be great in summer! If you want to meet other travellers this is a good place, there is a nice vibe. We had a private room which was clean, as were the shared facilities. Lovely and very helpful staff. Would come again!
Best place to stay on the island! Manager Tom is an absolute legend! Professional, friendly and fun, always there to help and advise on the best wineries or if you just want to spin a yarn. Made me feel like home if I lived on a beautiful island in an awesome lodge with a spa pool. Lovely and clean rooms, great facilities and common areas - made to socialize and stay off the wifi which is free by the way. Great location - easy to reach from the ferry by bus and a nice walking distance from town center. Can't wait to go back!
Hands down best hostel I’ve ever been to. It was my first stop in NZ and I couldn’t have chose a better place! The owners are some of the most generous people and are absolute legends. Everyone there treats you as family and welcomes you to become a member of the community. Hekerua is a must if you’re looking to meet wonderful people and have a genuinely great time on a piece of paradise!
Really cool hostel in the middle of the forest on Waiheke Island. Great place for people who like to stay up late to drink and socialize but maybe not the best if you like going to bed early or have issues with a bit of noise in the evenings. There's some really friendly and inclusive workers and long term guests here so it's an awesome place to meet people. There is a pool, spa, and big group dinner on Thursday nights for $5. I definitely recommend it, but the party atmosphere might get to be a bit much for some people after the first couple days
We stayed as a group for two night the other weekend, the first night was fine, small rooms and creaky bunk beds, but that's what we were expecting. It wasn't until the second night that things start unravelling. On the second night, we had the 'plesure' of sharing the accommodation with a stag do. This in itself would have been fine of the male manager/owner hadn't encouraged the drinking culture of the group. There is a sign above the communal area stating the a standard of behaviour and dress is required at all times; however, this clearly is not the case. I appreciate that this is adult only accommodation, but that does not mean you should allow guest to get so drunk the harass and indemiadate other guest. You said you biggest fear was waking to find someone dead in the pool, and honestly I'm amazed someone in the group didn't. Up until the second evening the staff had been lovely and friendly, but once we declined to 'join the party' the male manager seemed to go quite hot and cold on our group. We were made to feel like a burden and a hassle rather than guests of the accommodation. The manager also was quite pushy about us going to a beach party, bring it up over and over after we had said we wanted an early night. The managers behaviour had some of the group so uncomfortable they were wanting to head back to Auckland and sleep on a friends floor, while the behaviour of the stag do had a couple of the girls being touched inappropriately, girls locking themselves in their rooms at 8.30pm and being harassed by members until one of the more sober members realised finally and put them to bed. After the drinking from the stag there was pee on the floors of the toilets which remained until we left, and also the inability to use the toilets as members of the stag were hulled up in them vomiting or sleeping. I loved the pool, and am sorry some one in our group didn't follow your pool before spa rule, I don't know if this is why you were so up and down with us, but please don't tar a whole group for one members actions. Pros: The location The pool The communal area Cons: Cleanliness Managment Lack of facilities for number of guests two toilets, two showers and one sink for 30 odd guests. I appreciate and can see that you take a lot of pride in your place, and this could have been a much greater experience if we had felt like we were welcomed. Side notes: Please add a note about labelling food to the fridge itself and into the room notes, we did not see the small A5 sign until it was too late and our food had been thrown. The third cabin, please get wiring checked, two phones overheated while charging which has never happened before. Please talk to tenter about not walking over cabin deck to get inside, use the path. I don't know if this is because of the no shoe rule or what, but being woken both mornings at 4am as people started to head in for showers was not great.
