Story

Omana Regional Park is situated 42 km drive south east of Auckland city, New Zealand just before entering Maraetai township. Open 8am-5pm or 8.30pm .OverviewThe park is located on a gently contoured knoll, which rises 40 meters above sea level. From the highest point looking inland, visitors can see from Maraetai to the Beachlands settlements. Looking seaward, spectacular views can be had of the Hauraki Gulf. The eastern boundary is the Whitford-Maraetai road which is separated from view by a strip of mature native bush. There are 40.81 hectares of park of which about 20 hectares are used to graze sheep and the rest is used for recreational activities.Omana is the home of the Omana Children's Day, held annually every March. The day is set aside for children to visit and pet the various farm animals. The beach is covered with shells and suitable for swimming at high tide. The water is shallow, and sand lies under the shells for the children to enjoy. At low tide many shallow pools become exposed on the almost level rock foreshore which children find fascinating to explore. There are picnic areas and barbecue facilities, making it an ideal place for a family outing. There is also a children's playground. Volleyball is often played on the grass area beside the beach where trees provide ample shade. Kayaking is also an interest for some people visiting the park. It has wheelchair access, drinking water from taps, campervan and camping sites (booking essential), even dogs can be walked on a leash around the perimeter track.Families frequently explore the ‘perimeter track’ starting from the carpark area near the beach and following the coast, which allows great views over the Hauraki gulf towards Rangitoto and Waiheke Islands. Visitors will see beautiful Pohutukawa trees clinging to the steep cliffs (forming the western boundary of the park) and enjoy seeing the sheep farm just over the fence. There are pleasant views along the northern and western areas from Omana Beach around to Kelly's Beach. During the walk children will enjoy patting the goats which are usually tied up in the ditch around the site of the Maori pa (10 min's from the start).

"Situated on a gently contoured knoll from which visitors can enjoy outstanding views of the inner Hauraki Gulf. An ideal family park with a shelly beach offering safe swimming at high tide, shady pohutukawa, walks to farmland and an intriguing pa site."

Omana is great place for short farm walking track, Farm view point, Good amount of picnic benches close to the beach and at the farm view point. Good cycling and walking track which shouldn't be longer than hour. Close to Pine Harbour and Beachlands bar and cafe marina area. Good summer picnics place.
Will be our regular from now on I think Love everything about this park it was our first time camping here and felt very welcomed. Hope Rodger the park host finds good news about his son.
Love love love this place!! Such a great environment to come and chill out on the beach or let the kids play on the playground. If you're even more adventurous then jump on the Kids Toyota Guardian website and find their special word to earn a medal. Views are spectacular.
Well, thanks to Covid, we have to explore our own backyard in stead of our long planned trip to the South Island. And this was such a lively surprise. Cool walkways, ample picnic areas and clean toilets. Cannot wait to come back here on a sunny day!
Amazing well maintained park with playground and toilets and picnic areas with electric BBQs. Views out to the harbour. Sealed walkways through out the Park. Also a 100 person capacity camping ground.
Whether was very nice sunny day, enjoy the park area rather then beach area. Very stunning view but recommended to have a shower area for showering.
Kids friendly, there are farm animals and a playground. Amazing scenery, beach accessable, also BBQ stove available, good for family to spend a day here.
What an amazing place! Heaps of space, great views, reasonable toilets, water, rubbish bins, secure! Would be 5 stars if not for the appalling website that the council have; I couldn’t for the life of me work it out, so ended paying at a service centre. And be careful not to get locked in!
Regional Park near Maraetai/Beachlands area. Has automatic gates, so check out the summer/winter closing times before visiting. Nice walks around the park, plenty of people with their dogs and also bikes. Beautiful views of Rangitito and surrounding Islands. This is also a Toyota Kiwi Guardian site.
An absolutely beautiful part which has a very clean beach. The regional park has camping grounds, clean toilet areas, playgrounds, paddocks area. Well maintained park. The park has cycling track, walkway and BBQ stations all over. Lovely place for a family with kids, and big group to enjoy the day out. Best time is during summer time.
