A beautiful little piece of China in the heart of Dunedin! nThe Dunedin Chinese Garden is such a peaceful and beautiful place to visit. The traditional architecture, tranquil water features, bridges and carefully designed gardens create a wonderful sense of calm. It genuinely feels like stepping into another world.nWe especially enjoyed sitting in the Tea House with a lovely pot of Chinese tea and taking our time to enjoy the surroundings. It was such a nice touch that there were games like chess and Go available too — perfect for slowing down, relaxing and enjoying some quality time.nA truly unique experience combining beauty, culture, history, tea and relaxation. A must-visit when in Dunedin!

Absolutely stunning. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Dunedin. The entry fee is very reasonable. Beautiful bonsais to look at.

The Dunedin Chinese Garden - beyond beauty, it is a symbol of the close ties between the inhabitants of Dunedin and the Chinese community.nThe first Chinese immigrants arrived in Dunedin in the 1860s, coming from the state of Victoria, Australia, to work in the gold mines of the South Island of New Zealand, later contributing to the development of Dunedin as a commercial center.nThis wonderful Chinese garden is a tribute to them, through the joint effort of the twin cities, Dunedin and Shanghai.nnThe Chinese Garden in Dunedin recreates a miniature landscape with rocks, water, vegetation and traditional architecture, expressing the harmony between man and nature, providing a space for meditation and reflection.

An absolutely lovely Chinese garden with a gorgeous layout and cute ducks! We spent quite a while here despite it being a bit small. Very beautiful. Visited early April and it was very quiet.

If you’re in Dunedin in New Zealand and you’ve got a little bit of spare time, you must check out the Japanese botanical garden- paradise if you love plants and serene settings. There’s multiple complex all throughout the facility that described the history of the building of this place. I don’t want to give all of the details away so that you can learn for yourself, but I will tell you that there’s essentially a small pond in the center a small bridge that reverses the center and multiple pagoda with seating areas. It’s thoughtfully lay down and architecture really brilliant. There’s plenty of interesting areas along the way that you can stop at and sit for a minute to take some photographs. Lots of local birds come swooping in to nest and bathe in the little pond. It’s about NZ$10 for entry, which is well worth the price. As a ton of what appears to be igneous rock that has been shaped into a walking area with little waterfalls and other interesting plants around a central area where you can look out into the entire garden. Over towards the end there is a small shop where you can buy some tea and enjoy a peaceful pot of Tea right in the garden. It’s not hard to find this place because it’s it’s a block down from the rail station, which is a major attraction. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s beautiful and I would recommend that you give yourself around 30 to 45 minutes to really take it in. Give yourself a little more time if you plan to have tea at the end. Overall, this made my visit to Dunedin, New Zealand an exceptional experience. Thank you again for all of your hospitality.
