We had a very positive experience with Hertz and this downtown location. Upon arrival, they provided an upgrade vehicle but it was too large for New Zealand roads in our minds. No problem. They switch to a mid-size SUV and it performed flawlessly over the weeks we spent in the country. The return was quick and painless. Highly recommend.
The Chinese staff Lily was really helpful with travel idea and route suggestions. The best car rental service experience I ever had. I had a Mustang Sport car for a Sunday morning drive. The car was good as well.
The young Asian male was outstanding, not too happy with their book keeping though.. too many mistakes, gave car that was not full and was informed to the manager on duty on pick up who assured us it's been noted. Yet on return we were asked to pay. Had to change cars 2days later because the one provided had leaking roof. They only had one car which was not adequate and was advised next day I can have one. I had to drive one of their cars to airport in return to swap car I booked even after confirmation that car will be ready to pick up from city. Too many frustrations.. in the end finally gave up and drove thier to get what I booked. Very frustrated..

We had a great experience with Phanie from check in to when we returned the car. She was so nice and explained toll roads to us. She is an asset to Hertz Rental Down town Auckland. We are glad we rented from this location.
The first rental car experience that provided excellent reception service and administration process, no hard selling of insurance, lovely upgrades or car type and convenience. The final bill was what it was agreed on.
Called in here beforenyou contract up as had problems with our rental car. Couldn't do anything. Told us to go to the airport! This was the Friday that Auckland airport got closed. Went to airport and no one there!!! We persevered with the fault on the car never knowing if we could lock it or start it. Finally left it in Wellington with a note telling them about the fault.
Had a car reserved and accidentally picked it up a day late, but Dylan was very understanding & kind and found us another car to use - the last one they had available! It is not an exaggeration to say that Dylan was not the hero we deserved, but he was the hero we needed to save our vacation. 5 stars!
Was amazing pre-covid times but prices are ridiculous hiked now compared to what they were before! I used to be able to hire a medium to large vehicle for around $120 a day!
Would guve one star but the young Māori man working yesterday was really helpful and kind. Just a warning Hertz will need a physical licence or temporary licence and photo id, and a debit card with your name on it from you. Dont get yourself stranded because they dont communicate key info. Hertz should not be relying on a exterior company like AA this happened to anither customer egsactly tge same way when i had arrived, if you notice issues arrising try mitigate their procedures.. All it takes is a auto change if the finql email confurmation sent to the driver and we wouodnt have wasted money and time on taxis to return and grab what they needed.
